A
Plan
for
Our
Region’s
Future.
The
Centreport
Aerotropolis
Strategic
Plan
is
a
criKcal
document
that
epitomizes
the
Dallas
–
Fort
Worth
Region’s
goals,
and
lays
out
a
broad
approach
for
how
the
Centreport
can
be
central
in
achieving
them
over
Kme.
The
Strategic
Plan
both
recognizes
the
realiKes
of
today
and
outlines
our
approach
for
taking
Centreport
to
greater
heights
tomorrow.
Centreport
Aerotropolis
will
serve
as
a
central
transportaKon
node
with
a
world
class
internaKonal
airport
as
its
anchor.
The
Dallas
–
Fort
Worth
Region
will
maximize
its
largest
economic
engine
and
gain
a
compeKKve
edge
by
linking
universal
mobility

at
Centreport
StaKon.
Intelligent

with
the

This
urban
design
plan
and
report
focuses
on
the
Collins
and
Road
to
Six
Flags
intersecKon
and
surrounding
area.
The
area
forms
the
most
significant
commercial
component
of
the
City
of
Arlington
Entertainment
District
as
arKculated
in
several
City
of
Arlington
documents.
The
City
of
Arlington
Entertainment
District
is
home
to
the
largest
cluster
of
entertainment
related
resources
in
the
State
of
Texas,
including
Cowboys
and
Rangers
Stadium
and
the
Six
Flags
Amusement
Complex.
Together,
these
ameniKes
consKtute
an
entertainment
desKnaKon
with
the
potenKal
to
serve
the
region
and
act
as
a
naKonal
magnet.
In
its
current
form,
the
Entertainment
District
has
yet
to
capitalize
on
its
potenKal
as
a
regional
and
naKonal
magnet.
To
reach
this
potenKal,
Arlington
must
work
to
establish
a
strong
and
defined
cluster
of
ancillary
services
which
together
form
an
urban
gathering
place
which
contributes
to
the
overall
amenity
package
of
the
Entertainment
District.
This
urban
design
plan
seeks
to
establish
such
a
desKnaKon
near
the
intersecKon
of
Collins
and
the
Road
to
Six
Flags.

Report
University
of
Texas
at
Arlington
/
Spring
2013
/
Arlington,
TX
The
purpose
of
this
professional
report
is
to
idenKfy
design
elements
that
can
be
used
to
help
increase
pedestrian
thermal
comfort
in
Texas.
Although
the
contemporary
planning
paradigm
emphasizes
walkability
of
the
urban
environment,
and
many
ciKes
have
addressed
the
need
for
more
pedestrian-‐friendly
communiKes,
the
impact
of
climate
on
walkability
is
ofenKmes
ignored.
This
is
very
important
in
Texas,
as
very
ligle
to
no
literature
regarding
the
relaKonship
between
climate
and
walkability
exists.
Consequently,
this
study
aims
to
determine
which
elements
impact
pedestrian
thermal
comfort
and
the
ways
in
which
these
elements
may
be
incorporated
into
Texas
communiKes.
This
is
necessary
due
to
the
demand
of
walkable
neighborhoods
and
the
rapid
growth
being
experienced
in
Texas’
hot
climate.
