Gilbert Salim was employed in a one-year telnporary position at UiO as an adviser attached to the Payroll Section during
the period 1 July 2014 to 3l July 2015. Gilbert was offered another position outside UiO and regrettably left on 10
January 2015.
The University of Oslo is Norway's largest reseqrch and education institution, v,ith 28,000 students and 7,000
employees. The breadth o/ academic disciplines and internationttlly recognised t'esearch communities mekes UiO a
maior player in Nont,egian society. The Payroll Section at the {Jniversily of Oslo pays oLrt around NOK 1.3 billion
annually in salaries and entoltunents to more than 20,000 people. The seclion is responsible .for all payment of sqlaries,
travel expenses and restitLtion to individuals. The section is part of the Departntenl of Adntinistrative Support at UiO.
At present UiO uses SAP ERP as its payroll and personnel system and offers its ernployees a self-service portal based on
this solution. In his period here Gilbert was attached to the group responsible for payroll runs and carried out the
following tasks:
Operation and maintenance of the payroll system
Payroll runs, T1 , T2 settlement runs and travel runs
Remittances
Maintenance of user documentation relating to the runs
Responsibility for deductions administration, updating of income information when requested by the authorities,
contribution deductions, union subscriptions and attachment of earnings
Setting up user documentation for deductions administration and the rapid registration function
Plays an active role in connection with the 'a-melding' solution and testing
Takes part in setting up and improving several screen views in both the Norwegian and English versions for UiO
Contributes to improving various payroll section procedures
Contributes to extracting reports from other sections and queries about user access to reports from the Auditor
General of Norway
All tasks were carried ont to our full satisfaction! Gilbert has also ensured that we carry out tasks much more simply and
elegantly. He has increased the skills of many colleagues and this will be of benefit to us in the future. He has also
contributed to changing the work processes in SAP. He is a positive and go-ahead individual and is much appreciated by
his colleagues.

enn 20.000 personer. Seksjonen er ansvarlig for alle utbetalinger av lqnn, reiseoppgjQr og refusjoner til
enkeltpersoner. Seksjonen er en del av Avdeling for administrativ sttte ved UiO.
UiO bruker i dag SAP ERP som l6nns- og personalsystem og tilbyr sine ansatte selvbetjeningsportal basert

Samtlige oppgaver er utf6rt til v8r fulle tilfredshet! Gilbert har ogs6 s6rget for at vi utf@rer oppgavene pi en
mye enklere og elegant mite. Han har gitt kompetanseheving hos flere av medarbeiderne som vi fir glede av
fremover. I tillegg har han bidratt til endring av arbeidsprosesser i SAP. Han er en positiv og innsatsvillig
person og blir satt stor pris pfl av alle medarbeidere.
