Danger of Cancer
What is Cancer?

Cancer is a group of diseases characterized by
uncontrolled growth and spread of abnormal cells.
How does Cancer start?
•
Cancer starts with the abnormal growth of
one cell, which then can multiply into billions
of cancerous cells. This will form a mass of
    tissue called a tumor.

                                      DID YOU KNOW?
With the 100 trillion cells in the human body. Our bodies are constantly
producing new cells to repair and replace old, worn-out tissue.
How does Cancer spread?
•
When a few of the cancer cells start producing
    chemicals that enhance blood vessel
formation into the tumor. Through the new
blood vessels formed cancerous cells now can
break away from a malignant tumor and
migrate to other parts of the body, where
    they can cause new cancer
Where can I get Cancer?

Your Lungs is a common site for Cancer
What are some of the Lung
                   Cancer risks factors?

Cigarette smokers have 20 times or even greater risk than
    nonsmokers.

Cigarette smokers are at much higher risk than nonsmokers
    or pipe and cigar smokers.

Smokers of low-tar/nicotine cigarettes have slightly lower
    rates of lung cancer.

Air pollution increases the risk for lung cancer

Exposure to certain mining materials, uranium and
radioactive products, and asbestos have been demonstrated
to be associated with lung cancer.
What are some warning signs
of Lung Cancer that I should
                       watch for?

    Cough that doesn't go away


    Difficulty in swallowing


    Shortness of breath
3 factors that could have
            led to cancer prevention?

Using a Respirator when around harmful
    chemicals


    Limiting exposure to secondhand smoke


Incorporating Diet and Exercise into lifestyle
What can I do today to
                  prevent getting cancer?

Stay away from smoking and secondhand
smoke. Smoking can also lead to Pancreatic and
    Oral Cancer

Look for the warning signs, since early
detection is crucial to stopping the Cancer
