- Hook - Do you have passion in what you do for a living?
- My name is George Forchuk, and for a long time I had clue that would even be an issue.
- It took me a long time to figure out what I’m passionate about versus what made sense as a career.
- Raised to believe you have to be like everyone else; normal school, normal job, normal life.
- I became stuck, depressed at school, so I dropped out and just focused on working at my restaurant.
- I started as a dishwasher, quickly moved up to making sushi.
- I became a manager there, it was fun, but I wasn’t passionate about making food. I’ve worked there for about seven years now.
- But I couldn’t see myself making food for the rest of my life.
- The one hobby that stayed with me since I was young, was playing video games.
- It wasn’t until Full Sail and eSports gave me the idea that having a career I’m passionate about is quite possible.
- With my last handful of months left at Full Sail, I’ve begun narrowing down my strengths.
- I’m very competitive, always have to be the best and always have to win. Thank you, video games.
- I’m good at managing people and projects, seven years of management under my belt has helped a lot.
- Always well-informed and up-to-date with the latest trends in my industry.
- Very analytical and capable of developing media strategies.
- In my industry I’ve casted games.
- I’ve participated as a competitor.
- I’ve done promotions in my community.
- I can’t find myself being happier in any other industry.
- So what specifically do I want to do?
- I can be a media strategist.
- An eSports analyst/caster.
- A content producer.
- An eSports journalist.
- Or a project manager.
- I have yet to really get started in my career as a professional, but my options are limitless, and I’m excited to get started.
