3. At age 21 began career in football with home
club Varese as the Director of Youth
Department. One year later he was promoted
to Director General and helped team get
promoted to Serie B.

Made history by bringing club back to Serie A
for first time in 30 years.
2 seasons at Atalanta as Director General.

2001-2002 season started at Sampdoria. The
team was at a historic low when he started. In
one year, brought the team back to Serie A with
his new signings and new management he
hired.
5. In 2004 he was appointed to serve as managing
director. This same season was the first time one of
his clubs qualified for European competition.
In 2009-2010 the team qualified for Champions
League.
In 2010 he was brought to Juventus as Director
General. He was also appointed to their board of
directors and also CEO of the club. In 2011
Juvenuts won their first scudetto in 6 years. They
have won 3 in a row and are currently in 1st place
more than half way into this season.
6. Marotta chose this career path because of his
love and passion for the game. He wanted to
work in football because that was his one true
passion.
7. Marotta’s responsibilities range tremendously. To
explain some, he is the one to monitor the
management and coaching staff as well as the
current players. He can decide who is fired/hired
and which players will remain with the club.
Marotta is also in charge of the clubs budget
regarding salary for players as well as what they
can spend during the transfer market.
Marotta is also in charge of negotiating contract
renewals with current players and with agents for
potential signings.

Biggest challenge is to hire managers and
coaching staff and to hire players that will help
the club succeed. He must do this all while
keeping the budget of the team and make sure
not spend money that could potentially hurt
the club. All players signed are decided by him.

12. Kristen’s advice for anyone wanting to take the
same path was, “follow your passion and don’t
listen to people who say you can’t do it.”
Kristen was the first woman to negotiate a
multimillion- dollar contract for an NFL
quarterback. Doug Flutie, $30 million in 2001
with the San Diego Chargers.
