2. Scene 1:
Exterior late afternoon walk in a street, close to the pub
MIKE, a middle-aged man, is going through a time of depression. He would have miserable and
angry facial expressions. He has just started smoking, so he doesn't know how to properly inhale a
cigarette. The shots in this scene will be Mike's journey to the pub.
3. Scene 2:
Exterior late afternoon walk into the open space of the pub, walking into the interior space of the
pub
MIKE walks into the exterior, open space of the pub, to go into the interior, inside area of the pub.
MIKE will be demanding to be served, in an impolite manner to the BARMAN. The BARMAN is
compliant with his demands, but does try to give him some advice to cool it down.
MIKE
Afternoon mate, would you pour me a pint of Stella?
BARMAN
Yeah sure, £4.50 please.
MIKE
Just start a tab for me, if possible. I'll be here for a while.
BARMAN
Yeah sure.
As the afternoon progresses MIKE continuously goes through a pint after another, until...
MIKE
Mate, would you make me a couple of shots of Tequila?
BARMAN
Sure... but you should cool it a bit...
4. MIKE
Yeah, well, you have no idea what I'm going through, do you?
BARMAN
No, I don't, but you're going through your drinks pretty fast. Might end badly.
MIKE
Listen, I ain't got time for lectures. Now do me a favour, do your job and make me two shots of
tequila.
The BARMAN replies sarcastically
BARMAN
I didn't mean to bug you, just offering some caring advice. Two shots of tequila it is then.
MIKE drinks the two shots and is starting to be very tipsy. He decides to go outside for a cigarette
to get some air.
MIKE
Going outside for a fag, keep my seat for me yeah?
BARMAN replies in an annoyed manor.
BARMAN
Sure, no worries mate.
5. Scene 3:
Exterior outside area pub scene
MIKE goes outside for a cigarette. Whilst he is having it, a lady called BECKY comes along and
asks if he had any more cigarettes. They start getting into a deep conversation about ongoing
issues.
MIKE lights up his cigarette and then BECKY comes along and asks if he has a spare cigarette.
BECKY
Hey, by any chance do you have an extra cigarette?
MIKE
Uhm... yeah, here you go.
BECKY
Thanks! Do you live in this area?
MIKE
Yeah just a few roads away. What's your name?
BECKY
It's BECKY, short for Rebecca. I hate my full full name, what's yours?
MIKE
It's MIKE, short for Michael. I hate my full name too. Alongside a lot of other things.
BECKY
6. Are you going through a rough patch? So am I.
MIKE
Yeah. My girlfriend, well ex now, was cheating on me. I have started my own business. put all my
money into it and it hasn't gone the way I planned. So currently I am basically broke.
BECKY
Ah, that's terrible to hear. My boyfriend was cheating on me. I lost my job a couple of weeks ago
and me too i'm basically broke.
MIKE
Haha, it seems like we have a lot in common. You're an attractive lady, you could get an opportunity
fall to your feet at any time.
BECKY
Ooooh, you think i'm pretty? Most guys I meet think otherwise. I hate guys usually. You seem
different to others.
MIKE
Well, I'm wasted at the moment. I drink to the point where I have no idea what I'm doing.
BECKY
Do you know where you are at the moment? Haha
MIKE
At my local pub, in my usual state, on a Friday night. Usual, shitty routine. It's strange, i've never
seen you here before?...
BECKY
Well, I was in the area because earlier I was at an audition for a new film being shot in Putney and
Chelsea.
MIKE
7. Did you get the role?
BECKY
No unfortunately I didn't. This is why I came to the pub, to get my mind off of it.
MIKE
Buy you haven't even had a drink yet?...
BECKY
Hah, well, I was going to buy a drink till I stumbled upon you... Instead would you like to have a
few drinks at my place? Live two streets away.
MIKE
Hmm, sure, why the hell not! I'm already plastered as it is. The BARMAN seems to be fed up with
me. Been I right bell end towards him, when bless him, he's done nothing but be nice to me.
BECKY
Hah, well that's what happens when you're in a mood. Shall we get going?
MIKE
Yeah sure, let's go. I'm wasted so I might stumble along the way.
BECKY
Haha, don't worry. I've witnessed worse than you. Trust.
BECKY helps MIKE, by letting him lean on her. To prevent him from falling over.
8. Scene 4:
Exterior walk in the streets, towards BECKY's house
BECKY
Do you always end up like this, from drinking?
MIKE
Not all the time, it's just life has been harder than usual recently and I needed something to get my
mind off of my problems. So I drank more than I normally do.
BECKY
Don't worry about it. We are on the same boat (smirks)
BECKY and MIKE finally arrive at her house.
9. Scene 5:
Interior lift ride, inside BECKY's house, having more drinks.
Apartment door opens
MIKE
What drinks have you got?
BECKY
I'll be having a gin and tonic, got some beers, or whiskey if you like.
MIKE
Beer would be good, thanks.
BECKY
How about some tequila to start off with?
MIKE
I'm going to be in an even worse state, but screw it, we only live once haha.
BECKY
Cool coming right up.
(BECKY goes into the kitchen and makes the shots. When BECKY finishes making the shots she
puts a drug in MIKE's glass.)
BECKY
Here we go. This is for our ongoing problems. May they rot in a grave.
10. MIKE
Someone's a little. Our problems will always be there, we just need to face them with positivity.
BECKY
Life's too short to think of right now MIKE. Drink up and let's enjoy our moment together.
MIKE
Ok ok.
(They drink the shots and within seconds MIKE blanks out.)
11. Scene 6:
Interior of MIKE's bedroom
(Finds himself on his bed, covered in blood and a gun by his side.)
MIKE
Uhm, what the hell happened last night?
(Finds gun by his side)
MIKE
What? How the hell did I get this?
(Feels something in his pocket and finds a note)
MIKE
Hmm, what's this?
(Reads note)
MIKE
SHIT
(Instant flashback of what happened: when MIKE blanks out, BECKY makes him kill her with the
gun because she couldn't do it herself.)
