Falconry is one of the oldest

bells on their falcons feet. These
bells help falconers to locate their

these bells help falconers know if
their falcons are active or not

wearing a hood. Many falconers
choose to use hoods on their
birds. This is a former method
that helps calm the bird during
travel and prevents the bird from
capturing unnecessary prey. It is
made out of fancy leather and
designed specifically and made
to custom fit each individual bird.

or buying their falcons.

capturing their falcons in the
wild or buying them from
breeders.

is trained to hunt and to be
obedient

their falconers for food. When a
falcon is released, it has a
choice of going back to the wild.
After all, when falcons realize
that their falconers will provide
for them better food, security,
the falcon would automatically
choose to come back to their
falconer instead of going to the
wild.
7. HOW IS FALCONRY DONE IN THE
UAE?
• Training involves teaching the falcon to swoop down and attack a
feathered training decoy that is tied to a string and controlled by the
trainer. As the bird swoops to catch the decoy, the trainer pulls it away.
Done time and again, the bird learns to make repeated attempts until it
catches its target.

an important form of hunting in a resource-scarce land. Its
