Edison Energy installed a 1000kWp solar PV system across 700 homes in Glasgow's Athletes Village for the 2014 Commonwealth Games. The 4,200 panel system generates over 1,000MWh of electricity annually, saving 350 tonnes of carbon emissions and providing £135,000 in annual feed-in tariff revenue. Edison Energy monitors the system daily to ensure maximum efficiency over its lifetime.

THE PROJECT
In the summer of 2014 the city of Glasgow was a successful and proud host of the 2014
Commonwealth Games. As part of this event, the facility to create accommodation for all those
participating was to develop the Athletes Village. The creation of a legacy after the Games of
providing sustainable housing for local people within the area has been exciting. This development
and project is one that Edison Energy has been delighted to deliver Solar Energy to.

With the Games now over and the first tenants arriving, the 700 properties have been adapted and
transferred to Thenue Housing Association, West of Scotland Housing Association and Glasgow
Housing Association as well as 300 private owners. We look forward to continuing to deliver our
service to all 700 properties and ensuring that every householder continues to benefit from the free
electricity. A community energy project, as successful as the games were.

performance on a daily basis. This ensures maximum
