2. Bio
As an artist, I draw inspiration from what I see going on in the world and in my life to help me
create. I see beauty in small objects and moments happening. These observations help me
to create something original, something only I notice. I am also inspired a lot by the music
that I like to listen to, whether it be the lyrics or the instruments, there is always something
interesting that listening to music can bring to mind. The themes in my work include the
1990s, and how feminism and other politcal values were expressed through music in this
time. The riot grrrl movement during this time produced a lot of music that I am very heavily
inspired by to create segments and when choosing music to play on air. I am motivated by
getting to share the art that I enjoy with other people so that they could possibly enjoy it too.

Podcast - Living Through Courtney Love
This project was a song by song analysis of the album Live Through This by Hole. The
project explores how the song reflected Courtney Love's life at the time.
Writing this segment required lots of research. I really got to connect on a deeper level with
this music. This podcast helped me dig deeper into the world of 90s grunge.

Alameda Speaks - Ukraine
This project required both researching current events and getting interviews from other
students. We had to stay very organized to get everything done.
Working on this project helped me see the current state of our world. It showed me how a
conflict between two countries can widely affect people. I also got to hear other peoples
thoughts on what was going on.
6. Work Samples
Women’s History Month - Vivienne Westwood
This project highlighted the career of Vivienne Westwood. We talked about her
achievements and contributions to punk fashion.
This project taught me a lot about Westwood’s career. I also got to learn more about her
inspirations and personal life. It was very interesting to learn about where her work was
coming from and the thought process behind it.
7. Reflection
Learning to use audacity this year was challenging for me because I am not great with using
technology, especially for editing things together. Pushing me past my usual comfort zone,
editing together my work and speaking on air were both really good learning experiences for
me that helped me to grow in this field. Collaboration is important because it helps you learn
to work in a group to be successful. I am the most proud of my Courtney Love podcast
project because I worked really hard for it to sound nice and I was writing about music that I
really love. I spent a lot of my time in the radio program this year talking about Courtney
Love, and music that I like in general, as it is why I signed up for this class in the first place.
One of the most challenging projects for me was the Ukraine project because I had to do a
lot of research, as well as going out to find peers to interview, and then finding usable parts
of the interviews and editing them into the segment. This year, I learned how a radio station
operates and how to contribute decent content to put on air. I made a lot of meaningful new
connections in this class that I’m very grateful for as they have helped me be more
comfortable with myself, both on air and in life.
