- 1. Martin Parr Photography In this picture we can see what looks to be a British beach with two seagulls eating leftover chips from a Styrofoam tray. We can see that this is a British beach from to large union jack that’s just off from the centre of frame. The seagull is a very common animal to see around the beaches and most people see them as pests due to them stealing food from peoples hands and eating litter from the beach. This photo might be a commentary on the British consumerism due to the full tray of chips that the seagulls are eating. This shows that many people would be more likely to buy food that they don’t need and leave it in places where the “pests” are able to get at it. As in most of Martin Parr’s work we can see juxtaposition as these seagull are contrasting with the food that they are eating which are the chips, a seagull that lives away from humans would fish for food rather than scaving left over food of the ground. In this photo we can see tourists in front of the Tower of Pisa we can see that they are all doing the same pose in front of the tower to make it look like they are holding up the tower. - 2. see that from the three people in the photo doing this. With this photo we can see many of the people are not interested in the tower its self they are more interested in getting a photo of them holding up the tower. This photo was shown in the Tom Blau Gallery in London the exhibition was called Autoportrait and it was in the year 2000. This was a important exhibition as it was his first one back in England after touring different country’s with his work. In this photo we can see a mother and daughter sunbathing on what looks like a beach, but next to them is a large digger that is covered in mud and sand. Martin Parr uses pictures like this to give a view of British culture that isn’t usually seen in other photographers work. There is a very obvious juxtaposition in this picture due to that a beach is usually pictured as clean sand and sea, but with this picture we can see that these people have there view of the sea and the rest of the beach and they still have litter around them on the beach. In this picture we can see the different way that Martin Parr edits his photos we can see that he has over saturated the picture so that the woman seems pinker and that the colour stands out with the rest of the picture.
