2. COURSE TRAINING DETAIL
• Deep Tissue and Myofascial Release: studied chiefly under Art Riggs, international authority on Deep Tissue,
author, magazine contributor and creator of one of the most respected Deep Tissue training DVDs.
• Continued studies with Riggs’ disciples Martin Morales, owner of the California Institute for Bodywork
Education
• Trigger Point, Stretching and Mobilization: studied under San Francisco-based and internationally recognized
healer, Dr. Eric Rubin
• Muscle Energy Technique, Sports Medicine: studied with Randy Lind, Bay Area pioneer on the application of
MET work, founder and owner of the Oakland Manual Therapy Institute
• Ortho-Bionomy: completed 40-hour CEU course with Jim Berns, Society of Ortho-Bionomy International,
focusing on how to integrate Ortho-Bionomy techniques into a “standard” massage, as well as how to specifically
approach muscle-holding patterns created through trauma
• Lymphatic Massage Introduction: worked with Lucy Rush, Bay Area authority and longtime practitioner and
teacher of Lymphatic massage. The subtlety of touch employed in lymph massage proved a wonderful means for
refinement of touch for detecting irregularities in deeper structural work
• Swedish: learned basic and more advanced tools of this fundamental relaxation massage technique, as well as
proper body mechanics to maintain a practitioner's health and maximize therapeutic value to client
• Esalen Institute: learned the immense value of conveying a feeling of total envelopment of client and critical
nature of being intimately present with client
• Integrative 250-hour program in Portugal: studied in intense program in the Algarve area of Portugal and
benefited greatly by the sheer volume of bodies upon which I was able to practice. In addition to benefiting from
the program’s goals of understanding the heavy emotional component that can be present in any session and
learning to incorporate a wide variety of tools into any given massage, I felt my 3 months in Portugal aided
greatly in the refinement of my touch
GOALS
• Train massage staff at high-end, cutting edge spas
• Teach massage and produce workshops internationally
• Contribute to academic research of the effectiveness of various massage modalities
• Identify high-return bodywork avenues to allow me to dedicate the preponderance of hands-on massage work to
volunteer efforts: such as working with the elderly and the infirm and others in-need and low-income recipients
