Chemical Engineering
Chemical engineering is a branch of chemistry and engineering that applies the
physical sciences such as physics ,biology together with mathematics and
economics to address the World’s industrial demands .
Creatively combines three basic sciences-Physics, Chemistry and Biology along
with Mathematics to address the world’s need by creating new technology and
solving problems in existing technology (introduction to Chemical Engineering-
Tools for Today and Tomorrow).

 Toothpaste
 Soap
 Ink-pen
 Soap or Shampoo
 Detergent
 Diesel or petrol
 Semi-conductors
 Medecine
Energy
Chemical engineers are responsible not only for
the production of the fuel at the petrochemical plant
but they are also responsible for the quality of the
fuel.
We are in a transition from Non renewable Fossil-
fuels to a clean and renewable sources of energy
and chemical Engineers are among those who are
working actively to achieve this goal.
Chemical engineers are deeply engaged in clean or
alternatives energies Some examples :
 Bio-diesel(cleaner-burning alternative to
conventional diesel produced in a petroleum
refinery.
It can be blended with conventional fuel without
affecting the engine performance.
 Ethanol(From sugar cane) Brazil emerged as a
leader
 Hydrogen cells
Actual and future Challenges
Chemical Engineers are deeply involved in finding solution for
the next generation of environmentally-friendly energy source
and how to deal with nuclear waste
 Solar energy
 Wind
 Nuclear Energy.
Nuclear power plant create less air
pollution than conventional power
plants.

  1. Chemical engineering is the most versatile field of engineering in the world. We will see how the word “ versatile” fit in the actual concept Many approaches exist when it comes to define it, because we have the combination of 3 or 4 different field applied in the Chemical engineering.
  2. Products fabricated by the chemical engineer can be found in various items used by the common people as part of the daily life tasks .Many of what, are essential for our routine hygiene.
  3. Bio-diesel consists of a fatty-acid methyl esters that can be produced from starting materials including vegetable oil (soybeans),animal fats or recycled cooking grease. Ethanol is an alcohol made by fermenting any biomass that is rich in carbohydrates such as Sugars.
  4. (Chemical engineers have been involved in research of the effects of wind gusts and turbulence which yield efforts to make wind-turbine components more robust and reliable are ongoing to cost- effectively convert wind energy into electrici Even though, science throughout Chemical engineering field helped to discover many solutions for the world’s problems there are more challenges to be faced, more problems to be solved by the Chemical engineer. One those problems are intrinsically related to the future of our environment, which are new solutions for alternatives and clean energies.
