  1. 1. 10 June 2013FERMA executive manager elected toassociation’sboardFlorence Bindelle, executive manager of the Federation ofEuropean Risk Management Associations (FERMA), hasbeen elected to the board of the European Society ofAssociation Executives (ESAE).ESAE’s role is to support association managersthroughout Europe. Rather like FERMA itself for riskmanagers, it aims to increase recognition of theprofession of association executive.Florence said: “I am very pleased to join this board, and Iam sure it will benefit FERMA, as well the professionalismof our industry sector.”Florence has been executive manager for Brussels-basedFERMA since 1999. She has a degree in law with amaster’s degree in insurance law and a certificate in riskmanagement. She speaks French, Spanish, English andDutch.ESAE, is related to ASAE in the US and other parts of theworld, where it has 21 000 members. Newly electedPresident Alessandro Cortese, executive director ofESTRO, said: “I want to reposition ESAE as a platform forassociation executives to exchange and captureknowledge. At this stage the mission is ambitious and theBoard works on the strategy and the developments of thefuture” ESAE plans to work closely with otherorganisations on the future European AssociationSummit.
