The document discusses how humans are spiritually dead due to sin but physically alive, similar to zombies. It notes several characteristics of zombies that parallel the human condition and our sinful nature, such as being in a constant state of decay. However, it explains that through God's love and sacrifice of Jesus, and by having faith, people can be cured of their sinful nature and spiritual death, becoming spiritually alive and finding purpose through a relationship with Jesus Christ.
2. Thoughts from “R”
What am I doing with my life?
What’s wrong with me? Why can’t I connect
with people? Answer: It’s because I’m dead.
Everybody’s dead
At some point you lose all hope.
I don’t want to be this way.
I’m lonely
I’m lost
3. The Living Dead
Common Characteristics
of Zombies
They appear alive but are physically dead
Their zombie state is usually the result of some
type of infection
Their bodies are in a continuous state of decay
They have no purpose in life
They have a hunger that cannot be satisfied
There is no cure or the cure is elusive for their
condition
4. Humanity Before
Salvation
Physically we are alive but spiritually we are dead in sin
(Ephesians 2:1-5)
Our spiritual condition is a result of sin (Psalm 51:5 and
Romans 3:23)
Human nature is in a continuous state of decay
(Jeremiah 17:9)
Apart from God we have no purpose in life (Ecclesiastes
8:15 and I Corinthians 15:32)
We have a spiritual hunger that cannot be satisfied apart
from a relationship with Jesus Christ. (Ecclesiastes 1:1-9
There is only one cure for the human condition (John
3:16
5. Physically we are alive but
spiritually we are dead in sin
(Ephesians 2:1-5)
Ephesians 2:1-5
Made Alive with Christ
2 Once you were dead because of your disobedience and
your many sins. 2 You used to live in sin, just like the rest
of the world, obeying the devil—the commander of the
powers in the unseen world. He is the spirit at work in
the hearts of those who refuse to obey God. 3 All of us
used to live that way, following the passionate desires and
inclinations of our sinful nature. By our very nature we
were subject to God’s anger, just like everyone else.
4 But God is so rich in mercy, and he loved us so much,
5 that even though we were dead because of our sins, he
gave us life when he raised Christ from the dead. (It is
only by God’s grace that you have been saved!)
6. Our spiritual condition is a
result of sin
Psalm 51:5
5 For I was born a sinner—
yes, from the moment my mother conceived me.
Romans 3:23
23 For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God’s
glorious standard.
We are all infected with a
disease called sin
7. Human condition is in a
continuous state of decay
Jeremiah 17:9
9 “The human heart is the most deceitful of all things,
and desperately wicked. Who really knows how
bad it is?
Galatians 5:17
17 The sinful nature wants to do evil, which is just the
opposite of what the Spirit wants. And the Spirit
gives us desires that are the opposite of what the
sinful nature desires. These two forces are
constantly fighting each other, so you are not free
to carry out your good intentions.
Paul stated “Except for the Grace of God there go I”
8. Apart from God we have no
purpose in life
Ecclesiastes 8:15
15 So I commend the enjoyment of life, because there
is nothing better for a person under the sun than to
eat and drink and be glad. Then joy will
accompany them in their toil all the days of the life
God has given them under the sun.
1 Corinthians 15:32
32 And what value was there in fighting wild
beasts—those people of Ephesus—if there will be
no resurrection from the dead? And if there is no
resurrection, “Let’s feast and drink, for
tomorrow we die!”
9. We have a spiritual hunger that cannot be
satisfied apart from a relationship with
Jesus Christ
Ecclesiastes 1:1-9
2 “Everything is meaningless,” says the Teacher, “completely
meaningless!”
3 What do people get for all their hard work under the sun?
4 Generations come and generations go, but the earth
never changes. 5 The sun rises and the sun sets, then
hurries around to rise again. 6 The wind blows south, and
then turns north. Around and around it goes, blowing in
circles. 7 Rivers run into the sea, but the sea is never full.
Then the water returns again to the rivers and flows out
again to the sea. 8 Everything is wearisome beyond
description. No matter how much we see, we are never
satisfied. No matter how much we hear, we are not
content.
9 History merely repeats itself. It has all been done before.
Nothing under the sun is truly new.
10. Questions for Consideration
How do we go from being spiritually dead
to spiritually alive?
How do we overcome our sin nature?
How do we go from being in a state of
decay to a state of righteousness?
How do go from having no purpose in life
to a life with purpose?
How do we satisfy that spiritual hunger
within us?

Finding a Cure
for the Human condition
12. LOVE
For “R” it was the love for a young girl that
turned him from being a zombie and back to
being human
For Humanity it was the love of God for a lost
world
“For God so loved the world that he gave his only
begotten son that whosoever believes in him
shall not perish but has eternal life”
13. Sacrifice
In the Mystery Flu it was a human father’s willingness
to sacrifice his son to save the world
For Humanity it was God’s willingness to sacrifice his
only Son to provide the blood cure for humanity’s sin
Romans 5:6-9
6 When we were utterly helpless, Christ came at just the
right time and died for us sinners. 7 Now, most people
would not be willing to die for an upright person,
though someone might perhaps be willing to die for a
person who is especially good. 8 But God showed his
great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while
we were still sinners. 9 And since we have been made
right in God’s sight by the blood of Christ, he will
certainly save us from God’s condemnation.
14. Faith Believing, Trusting and Confidence
We are saved from death and brought back to life when
we put our trust in God’s cure – Jesus Christ
Our relationship with Christ gives purpose to our lives
and satisfy’s our spiritual hunger
Ephesians 2:8-10
8 God saved you by his grace when you believed. And
you can’t take credit for this; it is a gift from God.
9 Salvation is not a reward for the good things we
have done, so none of us can boast about it. 10 For
we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in
Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he
planned for us long ago.
