Scope
i-Gasmate 7820 Mixed Gas Permeability Analyzer is designed to determine the overall permeability and transmission rate
of mixed gases and one element of the mixed gases for various plastic films, composite films, high barrier materials, sheets
and aluminum foils etc. under specified conditions.
Test Procedures
A: Prepare test specimens according to specific standards. The test specimen should be of uniform thickness and should be
free of wrinkles, creases, pinholes, or grease. The direction of permeation should be identified. Extreme care should be
taken when cutting the specimen to avoid any contamination.

B: Open the main valve for the test gas and carrier gas (helium) and adjust the output pressure as required. Power the
instrument on. Turn on the vacuum pump and power the gas chromatograph on and check the gas outlet on the top of the
gas chromatograph with the flow meter provided.
C: Set up parameters for gas chromatograph.

D: Wipe off the test cell and tighten the upper test chamber and lower test chamber with no test specimen placed in. Then
turn on the vacuum pump and set up test parameters for blank test. Then start the blank test and save test report after the test
is finished. Establish method for blank test.
E: Apply a certain amount of vacuum grease on the outer surface around the hollow groove of lower test chamber and place
a piece of filter paper (diameter is 20 mm) on the hollow groove. Then place the prepared specimen on the lower test
chamber and make sure the test specimen contacts the lower test chamber tightly.

F: Set up parameters for specimen test and then start the test. The system would run the test automatically.

G: Test gases will be collected and analyzed by the GC and when the chromatogram is obtained, it will be saved to preset
position automatically or manually. Open the file of chromatogram of test specimen in offline station to preview the
chromatogram and load method for blank test. The instrument will give the value of volume of each element of test gases.

H: If no test is to be performed within short period after the tests are finished, please cut off the gas supply in time to avoid
any accident.
