- 1. I was awardedthe NavyandMarine CorpsAchievementMedal formyprofessional achievementinthe
superiorperformance of mydutieswhile servingasanAviationOrdnance TechnicianforMarine Aerial
RefuelerTransportSquadron352 DetachmentAlpha,3DMarine AircraftWing forwarddeployedto
KandaharAirfield,Afghanistanfrom5Februaryto 10 August2010 inSupportof OperationEnduring
Freedom.
Duringthistime I assistedinover250 Ordnance AircraftTurnaroundInspections,100 upload/download
evolutions,andapproximately200 aircraftwork orders. While deployedtoOEF,Iwas assignedthe
MunitionsNon-CommissionedOfficer(NCO) incharge forthe Ordnance Division,abilletusuallyheldby
a Staff Non-CommissionedOfficer(SNCO). Thisincludedinventoryof all the munitionsonhand,
includingaircraftandReadyService Lockers(RSL);verifyinglotnumbers,quantities,conditions,and
service life expirationswhichensuredanuninterruptedflow of ordinance andallowedforcombatready
aircraft. My dutiesconsistedof the following:dailyinventoryof the RSL,maintainingmagazine cards,
maintainingadequateordnance formissionaccomplishment,draftingordnance andturn- inrequests,
updatingaircraftloadsheetsanddaily/monthlyexpenditure reports,andmaintainingthe safety
equipmentatthe ordnance build-upsite. Iwaspresentforall ordnance deliveriesandassistedin
acceptance inspectionforall munitions,whichledtomyauthorizationtorequest andsignforordnance
viathe DetachmentOfficerinCharge (OIC). Mymanagementskillsandattentiontodetail were
instrumental inmaintainingaccountabilityof 12,077 munitionsandresultedinover6,000 combat
expenditures,593 of whichwere insupportof battlefieldillumination.
I was assignedasthe ExplosiveHandlersQualificationandCertificationProgramManagerforthree
months. I wasresponsible forprovidingordnance safetytrainingtoall maintenance Marineswhoare
requiredtomaintainacertificationorqualification,thusverifyingExplosiveHandlersPhysicalsand
Arms.
I was deployedtoForwardOperationBase Dwyerasan ordnance technicianandHMMWV driver. I
coordinatedroutesandestablishedascheduleforthe driversthere;ensuringaircrew andmaintenance
crewswere transportedasrequiredformission/flightrequirements. IalsoinstructedMarinestraining
and buildinghourstobecome licensedHMMWV drivers. Duringmytime inAfghanistanImaintained
the HMMWV, A/S32A-45/42 Tow Tractor, 30A Tow Tractor, A/S32K-1E WeaponsLoader,andA/M32C-
17 AirConditioningUnitLicenses.
