Say hello to JIBO, the world’s first family robot. A prototype robot at this
point, social robotics pioneer Dr. Cynthia Breazeal is the architect, with
her team using Indiegogo to raise funds and interest ahead of a
commercial release.

WHAT DOES THE JIBO ROBOT OFFER?
Jibo appears to be the real deal. This robot will have a range of abilities
that make it an ideal robot companion around the house.
The Jibo robot can recognise faces, deliver hands-free messages and
interact as well as react to its human owners in ways that are more
endearing that concerning.

PURCHASE FEE AND RELEASE DATE
Providing the crowdfunding campaign continues in its success, the Jibo robot
could be brought to market in 2016, with a consumer release of the product not
slated until December 2015.
For now, contributing £290 will reserve you a robot, but once available for a full
public release, the JIbo robot will be marketed as a high-end tablet computer.
As a result this will inevitably increase the price of the robot, but those looking to
act fast have until 15th August, 2014 to snap up Jibo with a contribution.
