The EUDAT Summer School, held from July 3-7, 2017, in Crete, aims to introduce early-career researchers to data management principles and tools for data-intensive science. The program includes structured daily topics, hands-on sessions, and social events to encourage participant interaction and networking. There are 38 participants from diverse disciplines and 18 trainers from various EU countries providing insights into research data management and analytics.

The EUDAT Summer School aims to introduce early-
career researchers to the principles and tools needed
for careers in data intensive science and data
management, and is applicable to those working with big
data, as well as researchers from less data-intensive
communities.

“vertical”: each day is devoted to one topic
Monday: Intro day
Tuesday & Wednesday: Data management
Thursday: Data analytics
Friday: Looking to the future
“horizontal”:
Presentations in the morning;
Hands-on in the afternoon;
DMP is the common factor
“social”: The participants stay at the same hotel and have
lunches and meals together. In the evenings, there are
‘get-to-knows’ sessions and social events.
