THE
PROBLEM
About 90% of all the garbage
that floats in the oceans is
plastic. More than 13 million
tons of plastic are thrown into
the sea each year. By 2030 there
will be more plastics than fish in
the sea and approximately 99%
of seabirds will have ingested
plastic, not to mention
overfishing, illegal fishing, as
well as underwater mining and
climate change among others.
4. 4
Human beings and their activities are the only polluters of the seas. At least 80% of the
waste that pollutes the water is plastics or materials similar to these. Can you imagine the
amount of plastic waste found in the sea?
5. 55
• Due to their long process of
decomposition, they choose to
dump them clandestinely into the
waters, they end up flowing into
the seas and coasts of the planet.
The problem is so serious that a
"seventh continent" has been
born that is not precisely
composed of paradisiacal
beaches, but giant masses made
up entirely of plastic waste, these
are located in the Pacific Ocean
between Japan and Los Angeles.
How did this happen?
6. 66
What problems do these waste
masses bring to the seas?
In addition to visible
pollution, the very small
plastic particles found in
these areas resemble
plankton, so the likelihood
of marine wildlife
consuming plastics and
toxic garbage is very high,
and the problem is more
serious when They eat
larger fish and these in
turn will be used for
human consumption.
7. 77
ARE WE ALL RESPONSIBLE?
• The pollution of the seas is a
serious problem, that you are
not the one who directly dump
plastics into the sea does not
mean that you are not
polluting it, we must become
more responsible about our
waste and become aware of
what our planet suffers.
8. 88
How to end plastic
pollution in the oceans.
TIPS TO COMBAT THIS
PROBLEM
*Change the plastic bags for reusable ones, carts or
baskets.
*Don't use plastic cups, plates, and silverware when you're
out and about.
*Buy your food in bulk and avoid excessive packaging,
such as trays.
*Avoid using cosmetics that have plastic microspheres in
their composition.
*Try to get hygiene and personal care products that are not
packaged in plastic and do not contain microplastics in
their composition.
*Avoid cleaning products packed in plastic.
*With refillable metal lighters, you will save a lot of money
and they are prettier too!
*Reduce Your Baby's Exposure To Plastic By Not Using
Plastic Bottles.

IT'S NOT TOO LATE
The situation may seem bleak, but it is not too late to
make a difference.
We need each other just as much as
we need technology and social
platforms to clean up the mess we
have created. Around the world,
volunteers are giving their time to
remove plastic waste from beaches
and rivers.
While there are countless threats to our
seas, there are also many opportunities to
find solutions. Our oceans give us life, but it
is up to us to protect them.
