PhD THESIS TITLE: Geographical study of Food Crops and Population in Jalna District
Brief Synopsis of Research:
The important of population geography as well as agricultural geography is increasing steadily since major
burning issue of the word like pollution; food scarcity has the great relevance with these branches of geography.
One of the most acute problems facing a large section of the world’s population is limited available resources and
shortage of food. Considering all these aspects I am selected the above topic for research work leading to Ph.D.
degree and Jalna district is the study region.
The research work is an attempt to find out the relationship between food crop production and population.
From whole study we found some problems in food production and population and below are the suggestions:
 Increase in the gross cropped area can be achieved by increasing multiple cropping.
 Conservation of cultivated land can be achieved by contour ploughing and building in the dry zone.
 Major and medium irrigation projects, drip irrigation to be implemented
 It’s very essential to switch over from inferior varieties of seeds to new improved seeds.
 Increase transport network in the district.
 For better development of region agro based industry like oil mills, cotton mills, and food processing units
should be developed on co-operative basis.
 Control the increasing population on all levels.
