Preparatory pre-induction guideline for contingent medical officers.

1. Feedback for New Contingent Medical/Personal Preparation
1. Take all previous Data in your laptop/computer pertaining to hospital as
a) Medical Manual of UN-2014.
b) SOP of UN.
c) MOU of UN.
d) Copy of last COE of Contingent.
e) MS-2 form for Entry Medical Examination.
2. Get idea of FPAT final test syllabus for Medical Officers.
3. Liaison with UN-desk in-charge and Medical Directorate officials for getting copy of
demand of Medicine/Reagents/Equipment/ sent from previous contingent to DIG(HQ)
4. Liaison with Commandant, Quarter Master & Medical Officer of 25 BN.
5. Make extra demand of medicines/reagents/equipment if think so additional to the demand
sent by previous contingent considering date of expiry 18 months from expected date of
your tentative deployment.
6. After arrival of the contingent members do following things:-
a) Carry out rough screening of for minor problems like Hypertension, Diabetes, Obesity,
ECG-abnormality, Dental caries, Hydrocele, Hernia, Haemorrhoids, Vision, Hearing defects
etc as no specialist of any type available in Beni.
b) Refer all defective cases to concerned specialist doctor for early surgery/curative treatment
within 15 days.
c) After 15 days start doing medical examination for completing MS-2 form.
d) Ask Commandant Medical FHQ-1 Hospital for detailment of Board of Medical Officers for
carrying out UN-Medical.
e) Liaise with PO of this board for investigations of all 140 detail and 30 to 40 reserve
candidates in phased manner. Make schedule accordingly and intimate DIG(HQ) and 25 Bn
for adm support.
7. After completion of all investigation, send defective cases to FHQ Hosp-1 for opinion
regarding final fitness/Unfitness. They may refer
these cases to AIIMS/Safdarganj Hospital.
8. Get a stamp made as such, it will be required at Beni.
9. Now, as you are clear about 140 + Reserve, start filling MS-2 form.
10. Send a certificate to UN-Desk, DIG (HQ) that UN-Medical examination of all detail and
reserve members of the 11th
Congo Contingent has been carried out, the detail as appended
below.
11. Vaccination:- Put up demand for allotment of budget for all detail members for following
vaccines to Comdt Med FHQ-1 through 25 Bn/DIG(HQ).
a) Yellow Fever - (RMLHosp/DMC Hosp Mandir Marg/AAP Hosp, Nr Mahipalpur flyover.)
b) Inj Hepatitis-A
c) Inj Hepatitis-B To be collected from FHQ-1 & given at
d) Inj Typhim-V 25 Bn Hosp by Contingent Doctor.
e) Inj Meningococcal Meningitis.
f) Inj Tetanus-Toxoid.

2. Note:- All live vaccines can be given either simultaneously or at a gap of minimum 1 month.
But only Yellow fever is a Live vaccine among these 6. Better You may give all above vaccines
at weekly interval.
12. Get 3 cm X 4 cm without cap colored photo in light blue background for use in SBI N/Delhi
and Passport/Visa offices.
13. Liaise with Ethiopian Airlines authorities at Terminal-3 regarding carrying of Lab-
Reagents in Thermocol Ice-Box. Better show them the empty box, its weight (15 kg) and
dimension (54x38x34) cm3
.
14. Purchase a Cramping Machine and adequate Tape/Clip to seal the personal/official luggage,
there are chance of tempering/stealing at airport.
15. Get stitched 2 sets of Blue uniform paint shirts of good quality and proper measurement
after getting cloths from 25 Bn well in advance.
16. After coming to mission area, Entry medical Examination is to be done during induction
training within one month of arrival on MS-2 form, for that copy of MS-2 form filled at
Delhi should be brought along with blank MS-2 form for the whole contingent members
(150 Nos).
17. Bring following items from India as here you will not find good one and also these are very
costly:-
a) QM-Items to be demanded from 25 Bn:-
 Stationaries:- Calenders/Diaries, Registers, Pen, Pencil, Stappler, Sallow-Tape, Gift
items, Packing Colored Papers and Copies, from India if you need so, here you will not
find good one and they are costly too.
 Mosquito Rackets of good quality-20 Nos.
 Fruit Basket- 6 Nos for Hospital Patients.
b) Soft copy of pictures/movies.
c) Among food items:- Sattu, Deshi Chana, Chura, Tilkut, Small Toffies Packets, Chips Raw
Packets, Gur/Mitha, Green Tea, Musturd Oil-10 lit for Officer-Mess.
d) Seeds of Lauki/Bhindi/Palak/Baigan/Muli/Mirchi/Onion/Nenua/Yellow Mustard/Flowers.
e) Spices:- Sambher Mashala, Azwain, Sauf, Mangaraila, Imali, Biriyani Mashala, Sukha-
Nariyal Gari, Nariyal with Pani.
f) Advice all pers to purchase common first aid medicines especially antibiotic and
symptomatic medicines.
g) Electronic:- Mobile charger-2, Screen glass cover-1, Ear/Head phone-1, Web-Cam-1,
Extension cord 3 points bala-1,
h) Toiletries:- Surf-10 kgs, Bath Soap-20, Washing Soap-15, Sampoo-4, Face wash-3
i) Banking:- Bring International ATM in activated form from India. Leave its Indian ATM of
your NRE a/c in India.
j) Mobile:- Only Airtel SIMS taken from Delhi NCR area is operated here, Incoming is not
free but works here. WhatsApp/Nanu works here. Wi-fi is available for all.
k) Not necessarily required items:-
I. As temp and climate is just like Bangalore here (temp between 20-35 degree), No need
of bringing Inners and Woolen Jackets, Sweaters, Quintal, Heavy Blanket. But troops
should carry these considering outside duty sometimes which is cooler than this place.
II. Civil Suit, Jackets, Blazer not required.
III. No extra shoes required.
l) Required items but in limited numbers:-
I. Civil paint-2, Shirt-2, T-Shirt-coloured-2 half and 2-Full sleeve.
II. Sport shoes only 2 required will be issued by 25 Bn, Leather Sandle-1 required to go in
Temple, Officer Mess, and Dining Room. Personal Sleeper-1 required.
