Précis of Experience:
I started mining in 1976 at the age of 17 as an Air Leg Miner by my father at his
Hard Rock Tin Mine in Herberton . I worked in the tin mining industry with my
family until early 1980. In that time I had been taught the basics of Hand Held
Mining (e.g. Drilling & Blasting drive and decline cuts, Bogger operating, putting
up raises, shaft sinking, stopemining, ground supportetc).
In 1980 & 1981 Havilah Mining Pty Ltd employed me as Mine Foremen and air
leg miner .
From July 1981 until January 1984 I worked in several different industries
including the Fishing Industry, Concreting, Builder’s Laborer and Plant Operator.
From February 1984 until March 2000 I went back into the mining industry in
many various positions both in underground and open cut mining from Company
Manager, Supervisor/Shift Boss, Safety Officer, Air Leg Miner, Longhole Driller,
Bogger Operator and Service and Charge Up Crew.
From September 2000 until August 2002 I was employed in the Power Line
Construction Industry as Supervisor, Driller and Shotfirer.
From August 2002 until present I have been employed in the mining industry in
various positions again in both open cut and underground mostly as Mine Foreman
or Supervisor (Shift Boss), but have also retained my skills as an Airleg
Miner/Rise Miner, Longhole Driller, Shotfirer, Services and Charge up and some
Bogger work.
