Yeogsa Chaeg hotel
“History Book Hotel”
There is a moment in each one of our lives where we sit back and think about how the
world became the way it is today. With the technology that we have today, one can go back and
trace their ancestors online or even travel around the world to go back in history. Here at the
Yeogsa Chaeg Hotel, we provide all of our guests a chance to go back in Korean history and
immerse themselves with the cultural on how it was previously and how it became the way it is
today.
The Yeogsa Chaeg Hotel, literally the History Book Hotel, is located in the small South
Korean city of Jeonju, Jeollabuk-do. Jeonju is known to many Koreans as “one of the homes of
culture and history in the country (McGovern).” It is in Jeonju where the spiritual home of the
Joseon Dynasty originated. It was also one of the several locations where the early Christian
Koreans where martyred during the 19th
century. Apart from the history, Jeonju, today, is also
well known for several festivals such as the International Film Festival and Jeonju Paper Culture
Festival.
Within the Yeogsa Chaeg Hotel our guests will be able to enjoy all of our services and
facilities. There are various activities that Yeogsa Chaeg offers to guests of all ages each day.
These activities include paper making, Chang-gi (Korean chess), Paduk, and Yut. There is also a
restaurant within the hotel, offering the best traditional Korean cuisine in Jeonju. The Yeogsa
Chaeg Hotel also has a banquet hall for anyone who is interested in getting married in a
traditional location. There will be a concierge as well as guided tours to the Traditional Korean
Village. Guests will be able to enjoy all of these services in addition to numerous sites such as
the Jeonju Confucian School, Gangam Calligraphy Museum, the Jeondong Catholic Cathedral,
and the Jeonju Traditional Life Experience Park.
The Yeogsa Chaeg Hotel offers 100 guestrooms, which half will be traditional Korean rooms
and the other half will be regular hotel rooms. The hotel also offers 3 traditional Korean houses
known as Hanok for those guests who are interested in fully immersing themselves with Korean
history and culture. The departments within the hotel include: Rooms Division, Sales and
Marketing, Food and Beverage, Human Resources, and Accounting. Rooms Division will be in
charge of the rooms, front desk, and housekeeping. Sales and Marketing will be in charge of all
things in regards to sales, whether individual, family, or group sales as well as marketing the
hotel. Food and Beverage are in charge of the restaurant and catering any events in the banquet
hall. Human Resources is in charge of hiring and training of all employees. The accounting
department will take care of all things financial with the hotel.
The types of guests that come to the Yeogsa Chaeg Hotel are foreigners and Koreans.
Because the Yeogsa Chaeg Hotel offers many activities for people of all ages, it is a comfortable
and safe ambience for families. Guests who are not married and come to Yeogsa Chaeg Hotel are
history and culture enthusiasts. There are also many young couples that also come to the Yeogsa
Chaeg Hotel to have their wedding in our beautiful banquet hall.
The effects that Yeogsa Chaeg Hotel will have on the community will be very positive.
The community will be appreciative of all that Yeogsa Chaeg Hotel does to keep the Korean
history and cultural alive. Not only that but Yeogsa Chaeg Hotel offers many jobs to those in the
community, especially jobs involving the traditional activities and guided tours. This is very
beneficial to the community of Jeonju in that increases the 1.9% of employment not only in
Jeonju but in Korea in general. The only negative impact that it will have for the community is
that because of the increase of tourists, Yeogsa Chaeg Hotel will not be able to offer rooms to
everyone who wants to come to Jeonju, especially when there is a festival going on. The
environmental impact that the Yeogsa Chaeg Hotel will have is positive as well. With the
National Strategy for Green Growth that was implemented in 2009, changes are being made not
only in Jeonju but in all of Korea to promote eco-friendly methods, to educate people of Korea to
be sustainable, and to contribute to international efforts to fight climate change.

The Yeogsa Chaeg Hotel is a hotel that is opened to everyone from all ages, whether you
may come as a family or with a group of friends. Most of our guests come from all over the
world and all over South Korea. We have many guests who are history and culture enthusiasts.
They love the traditional ambience as well as the many cultural activities that we provide. We
also have many young couples that also come to our hotel to have their wedding in our beautiful
banquet hall.
Our hotel is very comfortable and safe. The Yeogsa Chaeg Hotel has 100 guestrooms.
Guests will be able to choose whether they would like a traditional Korean room or a regular
hotel room. Apart from the 100 guestrooms, we also offer 3 traditional Korean houses known as
Hanok for those guests who are interested in fully immersing themselves with Korean history
and culture. The view from the rooms of the hotel are wonderful. No matter where your room is
you can see the beautiful Jeonju Hanok Village or grassy fields of the city.
The location of the hotel itself is in walking distance to many cultural attractions such as
the Jeonju Hanok Village, Gangam Calligraphy Center, Jeondong Catholic Church, the
Traditional Culture Center, and Hyanggyo Confucian School. Apart of the cultural attractions,
there are also many traditional and modern markets that are also in walking distance from the
hotel. In Jeonju, there are various taxi services as well as public transportation to get to the bus
terminal and other cities surrounding Jeonju. All information about taxi services and public
transportation are found at the concierge desk near the entrance of the hotel.
Santana 8
Because the Yeogsa Chaeg Hotel is located in front of the grassy fields, it is required to
maintain the grassy fields in good condition. This means that apart from the activities that are
provided by the hotel, guests are not allowed to smoke or have any open flames near the grassy
fields to prevent any fires. All guests are also asked to maintain the fields clean, meaning that
they should dispose of any trash that they have in their respectable bins.
The community of Jeonju plays a major role at Yeogsa Chaeg Hotel. We provide to the
community many jobs, such as guided tours and traditional activities coordinators, in order to
maintain the Korean history and cultural alive. The relationships that the people of the
community and the guests are unforgettable. Since many guests love these activities and build
relationships with those from the community, the Yeogsa Chaeg Hotel has a tours and activities
fee that is included in the hotel room price.
Some of the activities that the Yeogsa Chaeg Hotel provides are the guided walking tours
to the Jeonju Hanok Village, Gangam Calligraphy Center, Jeondong Catholic Church, the
Traditional Culture Center, and Hyanggyo Confucian School. The tours will be led by our
community employees. The hotel offers these tours at a small cost that is included in the hotel
room price. The equipment that is needed for this activity is a PA system and wheelchairs that
usually costs about $200 and $89, respectively. Anyone who is fit is recommend to go on the
tours. Those guests who are older or have a hard time walking for long periods of time should let
the concierge know so we would be able to accommodate with a wheelchair. Note: The hotel
only offers a number of three wheelchairs. This means that they are first come first served.

Although there are many attractions, restaurants, and activities throughout the city of
Jeonju, South Korea that are very enjoyable to residents and tourists alike, the Yeogsa Chaeg
Hotel offers many amenities for our guests within the hotel. Our guests will be able to enjoy all
of our amenities for a small price. These amenities make it easier for guests to learn about the
culture of Jeonju at the comfort at their hotel.
Within the Yeogsa Chaeg Hotel there are various activities packages that guests can
choose from. These packages are offered to guests of all ages each day. These packages include:
Cultural Experience, Traditional Activities, Mix and Match, and the Ultimate Experience. The
Cultural Experience package includes Korean etiquette and manners workshops, dressing in a
hanbok, and a basic Korean course. The Traditional Activities package includes paper making
and learning how to play Chang-gi (Korean chess), Paduk, and Yut. For the Mix and Match
package, guests are allowed to choose three different activities from each of the other packages.
Lastly, the Ultimate Experience package is a combination of all of the activities.
Apart from the activities packages, the Yeogsa Chaeg Hotel also has a wedding package
were we complimentary give the bride and groom a one night free stay in one of the traditional
Hanok homes, with a spa treatment just for the two of them. The wedding package also consists
of photography, videography, the ceremony and the reception. The total cost varies due to the
Santana 13
fact that the hotel needs to know the amount of guests that will be arriving and who will be
staying at our property. For example, for a wedding package that has 100 guests which includes
the photos, video, ceremony area, and reception and on the account of the hotel will be a total
price of ₩5,528,930 ($5,000). The take home amenities which are available in the guest’s
departure are as followed: soap, shampoos, tea packages, and custom made hanboks. We also
put forward discounts for the next time you would like to come and enjoy our hotel.
Spreading the word of our hotel to the world means a lot to us because not only will it
give us the upper hand of having guests come from all around the globe, we will also be
spreading the culture and traditions of not only South Korea but of Jeonju as well. The hotel
would spread the word of our packages, and what we have to offer to the world by advertising,
short commercials on the television, and most importantly target who will be attending to this
kind of property.
Our human resources focuses on the type of staff we will be having, how many and who
is capable of keeping our customers happy. We train our staff every three months to insure that
they know the process in which we work on, make sure that there job description and
specification are followed. We achieve to recruit new employees by looking at their background,
doing a background check; check is there has been any previous experience in the hospitality
industry.

With the National Strategy for Green Growth that was implemented in 2009, changes are being made not only in Jeonju but in all of Korea to promote eco-friendly methods, to educate people of Korea to be sustainable, and to contribute to international efforts to fight climate change.

  • 8. Santana 8 Because the Yeogsa Chaeg Hotel is located in front of the grassy fields, it is required to maintain the grassy fields in good condition. This means that apart from the activities that are provided by the hotel, guests are not allowed to smoke or have any open flames near the grassy fields to prevent any fires. All guests are also asked to maintain the fields clean, meaning that they should dispose of any trash that they have in their respectable bins. The community of Jeonju plays a major role at Yeogsa Chaeg Hotel. We provide to the community many jobs, such as guided tours and traditional activities coordinators, in order to maintain the Korean history and cultural alive. The relationships that the people of the community and the guests are unforgettable. Since many guests love these activities and build relationships with those from the community, the Yeogsa Chaeg Hotel has a tours and activities fee that is included in the hotel room price. Some of the activities that the Yeogsa Chaeg Hotel provides are the guided walking tours to the Jeonju Hanok Village, Gangam Calligraphy Center, Jeondong Catholic Church, the Traditional Culture Center, and Hyanggyo Confucian School. The tours will be led by our community employees. The hotel offers these tours at a small cost that is included in the hotel room price. The equipment that is needed for this activity is a PA system and wheelchairs that usually costs about $200 and $89, respectively. Anyone who is fit is recommend to go on the tours. Those guests who are older or have a hard time walking for long periods of time should let the concierge know so we would be able to accommodate with a wheelchair. For example, for a wedding package that has 100 guests which includes the photos, video, ceremony area, and reception and on the account of the hotel will be a total price of ₩5,528,930 ($5,000). The take home amenities which are available in the guest’s departure are as followed: soap, shampoos, tea packages, and custom made hanboks. We also put forward discounts for the next time you would like to come and enjoy our hotel. Spreading the word of our hotel to the world means a lot to us because not only will it give us the upper hand of having guests come from all around the globe, we will also be spreading the culture and traditions of not only South Korea but of Jeonju as well. The hotel would spread the word of our packages, and what we have to offer to the world by advertising, short commercials on the television, and most importantly target who will be attending to this kind of property. Our human resources focuses on the type of staff we will be having, how many and who is capable of keeping our customers happy. We train our staff every three months to insure that they know the process in which we work on, make sure that there job description and specification are followed. We achieve to recruit new employees by looking at their background, doing a background check; check is there has been any previous experience in the hospitality industry.
