Re: Don Althouse
In 2014 Don volunteered to undertake a project for the International Brotherhood of Live Steamers
(IBLS). The project involved development of simulation models in SolidWorks for a 3/4 inch scale live
steam locomotive. The original model, a 4-4-0 steam locomotive named "Virginia", was developed by
renowned modeler Curley Lawrence (L.B.S.C.).
In addition to developing the simulation models, Don also wrote an analysis on each section,
highlighting issues with the original model. The resulting series was published on the IBLS website. Don
continues to send in sections of the articles as he completes them. The series can be seen at the
following URL:

I am very impressed with the knowledge and skill Don exhibited in the use of SolidWorks. His writing
and documentation skills have not only made this project possible, but very enjoyable to read. I highly
recommend him for any work involving the use of SolidWorks.
