• F31.0 : Bipolar affective disorder current episode hypomania
• F31.1 : Bipolar affective disorder current episode mania without
symptoms
• F31.2 : Bipolar affective disorder current episode mania with
symptoms
• F31.3: Bipolar affective disorder current episode Mild or
modrate depression
• F31.4 : Bipolar affective disorder current episode severe
depression without psychotic symptoms
• F31.5 : Bipolar affective disorder current episode severe
depression with psychotic symptoms
4. EPIDEMIOLOGY
Incidence- 1.2/100 men, 1.8/100 women
Sex- slightly higher in women
Age- 30 mean age in men and women.
Families- 20-25% risk for 1st degree
relative. 50% of patient have parents with
bipolar disorder.
Genetics- child with one bipolar parent-
25% risk.
8. Nursing management
• Nursing diagnosis-
• Risk for violence self directed or directed at
others related to aggressiveness, abusiveness.
• Risk for injury related excited stage.
• Altered thought processes related to disease
condition.
• Impaired social interaction related to expensive,
irritable mood impaired judgment.
