This document outlines a process for using IoT sensor data and data analysis to improve tennis performance. It involves: (1) capturing sensor data from practice sessions to establish a baseline, (2) importing the data into Excel for analysis, (3) transforming the data into a usable format, (4) establishing improvement goals based on the baseline, and (5) ongoing analysis of new sessions to track progress toward goals and refine plans. The goal is to leverage sensor data and analytics to provide objective feedback and drive continuous improvement in tennis skills and performance.

2. What are we trying to achieve – the objective?
Overall tennis game improvement :
• Establish where we are – create a baseline starting with a practice
session
• Come up with a plan to improve in subsequent practices
• Track daily, weekly, monthly and yearly progress of practices
• Continue to refine improvement plans based on progress

capturing of data during a practice session
• Sensor can transmit data to the mobile
app for analysis
• Mobile app can also create a “csv” file
that has the session data

Practice data sets have been extracted by leveraging Sony
Smart Sensor:
• Extracted data has been saved to a CSV file
• Extracted data needs to be queried and transformed – to make it
usable
Next set of steps will use MS Excel to import the data for
analysis:
• Import data from the generated CSV file
• Analyze data and set improvement goals

Data analytics offers a great potential for improving sports
performance in tennis. By leveraging innovative sensor data
from practice sessions and data analysis, coaches and players
