Introduction
❖ Technosol was founded in 1994 and provided high quality-low cost software
software services to businesses across the world
❖ Major clients based in UK & US, PBT in 2014 was 650 crore, and it is a 50,000
person organization
❖ A project is divided into different parts, each part is allocated to different teams and
was managed by a team lead, 2-3 team leads were overseen by a manager
❖ The attrition rate was 10% because of above average salaries but employee
engagement was low
❖ On the project- Anita & Sunil were working as team member, Vaundhara as team
lead, and Mahesh the overseeing manager

reasons for the conflict
between Vasundhara
and Anita?

❖ Anita’s reaction on being replaced by Vasundhara was the major reason of
conflict between them.
❖ Anita felt that she lost her power and visibility because of Vasundhara in
the project
❖ Not reporting and updating vasundhara with all the details of project
caused confusion in the team and often times vasundhara had to send
follow up mails to team to explain what needs to be done again.
❖ Anita stating things like team was working fine before vasundhara and that
she has to correct mistakes of vasundhara implied Vasundhara is not
capable enough to handle the work.

❖ Anita didn’t like advices from Vasundhara regarding team collaboration
❖ Anita sent mail to Sunil that she has to waste her time to correct Vasundhara’s
work and her work was full of errors
❖ Anita also sent mail to Sunil saying that team was working fine before
Vasundhara joined team

Vasundhara’s poor appraisal was a result of connected problems, which were
❖ Mahesh did not reply to Vasundhara when she mailed him about her issue with
Anita
❖ Vasundhara felt overlooked thus she stopped attending calls with Sunil and
Anita
❖ This led Sunil to assume that Vasundhara was removed, and he mailed Mahesh
❖ Vasundhara attributed her behaviour to Mahesh’s constant neglect
❖ Her request for withdrawal from the project was also ignored Mahesh also
assigned her 2 more projects after discussion
❖ Finally, Mahesh stated that Vasundhara’s rating was such because she could not
maintain relationships and stopped working on the project with no prior
information to him

Premal had received a mail from Vasundhara who expressed her
disappointment over the current appraisal rating system
❖ Premal was also involved in her hiring process and knew about her
capabilities as a Subject Matter Expert, was therefore surprised on seeing
her appraisal rating.
❖ He composed an email to Mahesh, her manager to set up a call with him to
understand the reasons behind her getting a low rating
❖ Premal was taken back when he immediately received a mail from Mahesh in
a rather aggressive and angry tone
❖ He sent an email again to confirm on the date of meeting and asked for the
details on the people who were involved in this project
❖ He also asked Vasundhara to explain what she meant by ‘deeper problems’
