Intelligent Wireless Sensor Network based Monitoring for Process Automation
1. ABSTRACT
Wireless technology provides a low-cost solution for unlocking value in the plant and enables
mobile and more productive work force. Wireless transducers collect crucial process data from
hazardous and inaccessible locations, where traditional instruments cannot reach to fetch real-
time data with higher spatial resolution to help make informed control decisions in timely
manner. A WSN deployed for instrumentation and measurement purpose delivers on the promise
of lower installed costs by its reliable and secure performance. For study of WSN based
monitoring of process parameters, Honeywell OneWirelessTM
Network has been chosen. For
laboratory implementation of Honeywell OneWirelessTM
Network, hardware such as wireless
field transducers, gateway, multinode, PDA, etc. are deployed. Key server management software
is used to generate keys that are later transmitted to the elements of OneWirelessTM
Network.
Wireless Builder is used for configuration of Wireless Gateway as Multinode and also to develop
software application for computerized monitoring, configuration, calibration and analysis of run-
time data. The system implemented has merits such as quick deployable, high security of data,
self-diagnosis, self-healing, auto re-routing, etc.
