Can a Virtual tour reduce anxiety in young optometry patients with ASD?
UPDATED _ReDx_superstereo Cheiroscope-1 (1)
1. Our eyes see by combining the images, as seen by our
left eye and by our right eye(Binocular Vision). But in
some cases one of our eyes is dominant over the other
and as a result we loose perception of depth(stereo
vision) which results in distorted sense of hand-eye
coordination. This condition generally occurs by eye
disorders like Lazy Eye, Strabismus and Amblyopia.
This technology takes the conventional Cheiroscope to a new
level. Our digital model helps in more guided therapy and vision
therapists will have immediate access to the data needed to track
the patient progress. This technology offers great opportunity to
deal with the eye disorders in objective, organized and efficient
ways using technology. With more data available on ‘Lazy Eye’,
we can integrate machine learning techniques with cheiroscope to
diagnose the disorder without any expert/doctor.

1. We proposed two different digital designs for conventional Cheiroscope, a device for diagnosing “Lazy
Eye” – one involves use of VR headgear and any normal android phone(top-left figure), and other design
involves a 3D printed model whish uses an android tablet(rightmost figure).
2. The results can be effectively analyzed and doctor can track the progress easily using app features. The
app is properly integrated with MS Access database.
3. We plan to improvise our design after testing our device on amblyopic patients. We further plan to use
machine learning algorithms to take this app to masses with no medical background.
