Student style
T2 CHECKS OUT THE HAUTE AND HAPPENING AT SOME STUDY-AND-PLAY STOPS.
We love the single-tone coral kurta paired with casual
denims. We adore the cute pink bag. We notice that the
only bling she has on her is a tiny nose stud. This is
Devlena Collishaw,a second-year student of St Xavier’s
College. Not a brand person, Devlena pointed at her
chappals and grinned “100 bucks!”.
But ethnic chic is just a one-off look, says the student of
English. “Usually I go for the punk and Goth look with
chains and dark eye make-up. Today I wanted to feel a
little girly,” smiled Devlena.
Her style funda: “A bit of liner and kajal can dress up
any look.”
We caught Daphne
De’ Gama painting the
town red, literally! Jar of red paint and brush in hand,
this third-year psychology student of Loreto College
looked a picture of casual cool as she went about
painting the edge of a pathway on campus ahead of the
college’s centenary celebrations. Her look: capris cut
from a pair of jeans, a casual black tee and high top
converse shoes that she painted herself.
Her style funda: “Casual. I’m not a brand-conscious
person. I like bright colours — as you must’ve guessed
from my shoes!”
2. First-year BCom (evening) student of St Xavier’s,
Ruchira Kapoor, was enjoying her own college fest
when t2 spotted her. She paired her slinky tunic with a
camisole and black leggings and comfy flats for a trendy
“day look”.Her make-up was minimal — just kajal, eye-
liner and lip gloss.
Her style funda: “I like dressing simple, with few
accessories. Casuals is what I’m most comfortable in.”
First-year BA general
student Sorcha
Hupping was chilling
out with friends near
Delights, opposite the
St Xavier’s back gate,
when t2 caught up
with her. We love the
two-layered look with
a black vest and a
funky white tee. The bag, admits Sorcha, was far too
“girly” for her, so she dressed it up with colourful
badges.“I love these badges and pin them everywhere,
even on my shoes,” she said. We look down and
discover funky red graffiti converse on her feet. Sorcha
isn’t a big fan of jewellery so she keeps it simple with
stud earrings and lots of eye make-up.
Her style funda: “Nothing too girly. I like attitude.”
Akriti Sanghavi was hurrying to catch up with her
classmates at Bhawanipur Gujarati Education Society
College when t2 stopped her for a freeze frame. For this
second-year studentof BCom, it’s brands all the way —
the hot pink tee is Penny Lane, the jacket Tommy
Hilfiger, the shoes Puma and the watch Fossil.
Her style funda: “I shop from all over the world, picking
up stuff from wherever my family goes on a holiday. I
love to look different.”
3. We like the simple look with a striped tee and capris
sported by Puja Kedia, a third-year student of fashion
designing at Bhawanipur College. What caught our eye
was the wacky sky blue nail polish she sported on her
toes. The colourful jute bag was practical and trendy. A
discreet gold chain and tiny diamond earrings
completed the look.
Her style funda: “This is my dressed-down look. I
usually leave my hair open and wear danglers on my
lobes.”
