RE: Electric Distribution Mechanic 3879 (Revised 7/28/2016)
Dear Sally,
Your job opening for an Electrical Distribution Mechanic is exactly the stepping stone I am
looking for on my mission to achieve my career goal of becoming a Journeyman Line Mechanic for The
City of Los Angeles. After seeing the job posting under LADWP, I researched your power utility.. My
education at Northwestern Lineman College and work experience make me a great fit for this position and
your prestigious company in the following ways:
● Safety. Throughout my entire work history, I have never been involved in any accidents that
jeopardise the safety of me, my coworkers, or customers. I also hold an active license in OSHA
10 Hour for the power delivery industry.
● Skills. While I was at Northwest Lineman College, I received over 500 hours of training in
construction and maintenance of poles and equipment, which 80% was in the field. This gave me
experience in overhead and underground installations for both distribution and subtransmission
power lines and equipment. I am proficient at climbing and operating power tools to dig holes and
set poles.
● Knowledge. At Northwest Lineman College I passed my academic courses on Electrical
Systems, Electricity, Rigging, Transformers, Personal Protective Grounding, and others. I
understand that LADWP expects the best of its employees, and I would be determined to achieve
high performance levels once enrolled in your training programs.
● Certifications and Licenses. I currently hold certifications in First Aid/CPR/AED, Class A CDL
with AirBrakes and Combination Vehicle Endorsements, as well as Emergency Pole
Top/Vault/Aerial Lift Rescues. I am also a certified pole climber.
I bring a high level of enthusiasm, energy, solid work ethic, and pride myself in my devotion to
safety. I always put tremendous effort in working well with others. It would be my honor to interview for
The City of Los Angeles. I have attached my resume for you. If you would like more information about
my background, please call me at (760) 8120342 and I would be more then happy to help answer any
questions you may have. Otherwise I will contact you in the next few weeks to follow up, and I look
forward to meeting you soon.
Sincerely,
Devin Singledecker
