Cool Cats – The 1st grade

Step 1: FEEL
•There are a lot of problems in India. But the one that troubled us the most was the
smoking habit of adults we love.
•To learn about smoking we read a book “ Kate smokes cigarettes” and heard Ms Girija
from the Cancer institute speak about the Ill effects of smoking and Cancer.
Step 2: IMAGINE
•We discussed fund raising ideas with our mentor teacher. Many ideas came out such as:
•Radio Ads
•Banners
•Posters
•Tv Ads
•M eetings , etc.
Step 3: DO
•We worked together to make a poster explaining the ill effects of smoking and made
multiple copies.
•We put up this poster in restaurants and super markets.
•We also used the Poster to talk to people who smoke like our drivers, parents,
neighbours, Parent's friends etc.
•After speaking to them we encouraged them to fill up a pledge form promisng that they
would either quit or reduce the number of cigarettes smoked per day.We even created our
own feedback email id so people can talk to us kidsagainstsmokingchennai@gmail.com
•We believe that we have made a Change by encouraging people to give up smoking, by
making them think of the ill effects on them selves as well as non smokers. We have
commited ourselves to talking to anybody we see smoking and encourage them to quit.
