2. M3 – AOR
LEGEND
//TOP SECRET//
HIGH LEVEL MISSION FLOW
•
•
Jets spool up at 0400 at Sachon (Captured AFB)
At 0420, package BUDWEISER departs direct to HOOVER to air-refuel at
assigned tanker assets - and enters the target airspace through DYSON and
perform SEAD and SWEEP duties clearing the target area of threats.
• At 0425, package CORONA departs – air-refuels after BUDWEISER during
ingress – and holds at DYSON until Budweiser Package Lead calls “Rick James”,
alerting CORONA Package Lead that his flights can press on their targets. It does
NOT necessarily mean the target area is clear of ALL threats, it just means there
is a window to attack & may include addt’l
• Package CORONA will strike the airfield’s runway and underground facilities while
BUDWEISER continues to provide air and surface cover.
• CORONA Package Leader will call “Miller Time” when they are off targets, alerting
the BUDWEISER Package Lead that they are off target and egressing the target
area.
• All flights will exit back through DYSON, air refuel if needed, and RTB.

7. POST-STRIKE CLEARANCE
10-15 Miles Separation
SPARTAN continues to be split
in 2 elements setting up
Northern and Northeastern
CAP Points 20 Miles from
Kunsan at 28,000ft and above.
MAKO 15 Mile Counter
Rotating CAP Around
KUNSAN at 27,000ft
AFTER “RICK JAMES” IS IN EFFECT
HUNTER & VULTURE
once DAKOTA setup
CAPs 20 miles (or
more) East of Target at
28,00ft or above.
SKIPPER calls “RICK JAMES” on UHF 17 when strike package can press target
SPARTAN sets up to CAP points North and Northeast of target 20 miles from Kunsan at 28,000ft or
above, and 10-15 miles separation.
HUNTER & VULTURE continue to engage SAM targets if present – while responsible for own
deconfliction with package Corona, and then when Dakota, set up Eastern CAP Points.
Once “RICK JAMES”, package Budweiser is to stay at or above 28,000ft for deconfliction with package
CORONA. They will know they are clear below 28,000ft. Only exception is for target runs or if SAM
coverage is still up (see contingencies slide)
Package CORONA is clear within 15 miles around Kunsan airbase, and clear completely to the West
feet wet.

12. SPINS
•
All BUDWEISER flights will short align and taxi prior to their scheduled departure time.
– SPARTAN will take the active 2mins prior to scheduled departure time and takeoff 1 min early to
ensure no delaying the next flights.
– HUNTER will immediately take the active as SPARTAN departs, and will takeoff when ready (ok to
takeoff early as long as not after fragged departure time)
– VULTURE will immediately take the active as HUNTER departs, and will takeoff when ready (ok to
takeoff early as long as not after fragged departure time)
•
DATALINK will be enabled once SPARTAN has taken the active. There will be a quick DMD check call where
SKIPPER expects to simply hear a “HUNTER2, VULTURE3”, and then bring up data. No “good data calls are
needed”.
•
SPARTAN will be doing 2-ship no interval departures with a combat climb at 450kts up to 12,000ft due to
proximity of the field to the FLOT and limited security.
•
HUNTER will be doing a X departure
•
VULTURE will be doing a X departure
•
Once all ships in your flight are airborne, flight leads call “GO” on UHF tower freq. DO NOT SWITCH TO
UHF 17 UNTIL 20 MILES FROM HOMEPLATE.
– Make the checking out call when switching to TAC 17
– Check in on TAC 17 and perform radio check with your flight.
13. SPINS CONT’D
•
Fly to assigned tanker at assigned altitude.
– Once you reach your tanker, make the call you are joined (formed up) with the tanker so SKIPPER
knows everything is going as planned (i.e. “SPARTAN1, with CANTEEN)
– If anyone in your flight is having trouble refueling and it is tanking longer than 2 minutes to connect,
please contact SKIPPER and advise. SKIPPER may direct you to KWANGJU immediately so as not to
compromise the mission anymore than it already will be.
• Do not switch to KWANGJU tower until on the ground, and before you do, let SKIPPER know
you will be off comms, and then again alert him when back on TAC and departing KWANGJU
– Once your flight is finished refueling, make the call on the TAC freq and head to DYSON at your
assigned ingress altitude (i.e. “SPARTAN 1 pushing HOOVER for DYSON”).
•
Once you reach DYSON, let SKIPPER know you have reached the push point. When all flights have checked
in at the Push Point, SKIPPER will clear in each flight to press target.
•
Over target, make the MAGNUM/SLAPSHOT calls on TAC 17
14. PLANNING THE PLAN
• Package Lead SKIPPER will identify all known SAMs the day prior to the
operation to get the latest intel. All SAMs will be identified and a DTC file
will be provided to everyone in package Budweiser. It is critical we all use
the same SAM threat rings so we can use the numbers to ID and name
them/call out when they go down.
• If possible, let SKIPPER know if the the two Flight Leads can meet 1520mins prior to the main briefing to review the plan and how we will brief.
• The briefing will flow with SKIPPER speaking to the high level strategy and
his own flight’s plan, and then he will hand it off to Hunter flight lead to
brief his flight’s plan, and the same for Vulture.
• SKIPPER will ask each of his pilots in his package to go in and do a test
flight when asked, and confirm everything is working as it should prior to
joining the server. Again, there will be no rejoins for Controller/Track
IR/Setting issues.
15. Final Thoughts…
• Best of luck
gentleman!
• Anyone who
comes home
without an A-A kill
or air defense kill
owes us a case of
beer!
17. M3 – WHAT IF?
//TOP SECRET//
•
WHAT IF SKIPPER GETS SHOT DOWN OR HAS TO RTB EARLY?
• SPARTAN 13, Hobo will become SKIPPER and proceed as fragged. If Hobo is down, than it will be Alohir (HUNTER 21).
•
WHAT IF BOSSMAN GETS SHOT DOWN OR HAS TO RTB EARLY?
• COUGAR 61, Flounder, will become BOSSMAN and proceed as fragged. If Flounder is down, then the mission is an abort.
•
WHAT HAPPENS IF AN ABORT IS CALLED?
• Authenticate first to confirm the abort is legitimate, and then proceed to Custom’s House (which is KWANGJU). Once at KWANGJU, the mission will shift to
strictly SEAD and SWEEP to setup the next mission to strike Kunsan (unless we do not have sufficient assets to do so). SKIPPER will send 1-2 flights to
air-refuel immediately from Custom’s House while the rest go A-A and/or SEAD. We will setup a grinder at DYSON and move it up North towards Kunsan
with each engagement.
•
WHAT IF AWACS DOESN’T WORK?
• We will shift to VID (via TGP or Eyeball) and continue mission as fragged. RAYGUNs will not be sufficient to engage. Target must be visually identified.
•
WHAT IF ONE OR MORE TANKERS ARE NOT THERE OR DO NOT GIVE FUEL?
• We will send some aircraft to KWANGJU to get gas while others air refuel and push the mission times back as needed.
•
WHAT IF THE FLIGHT IN FRONT OF ME IS TAKING TOO LONG TO TANK?
• Contact that flight lead and ask him his ETA. If you think it will impact the mission timelines, contact your package lead (BOSSMAN/SKIPPER) for
instructions. Most likely they will kick the flight off the tanker and send them to KWANGJU so you can tank.
•
WHAT IF BUDWEISER CALLS “RICK JAMES” BEFORE CORONA IS DONE REFUELING/NOT AT DYSON?
• BOSSMAN should contact SKIPPER when they are done refueling and ready to press and make sure the attack window is still open (i.e. “SKIPPER,
BOSSMAN, at DYSON, are we still green?”, “BOSSMAN, SKIPPER, bright green, press”. BOSSMAN may also choose to press with part of his package if
one flight is not done refueling.
•
WHAT IF UHF 17 OR OUR ASSIGNED VHF DOES NOT WORK?
• If TAC 17 is not working for 1 pilot, mission will proceed as fragged with no changes. If an entire flight or multiple pilots are not able to communicate on TAC
17 and have tried manually entering in the freq, the package will switch to UHF 15 since we know that will work for everyone.
• If your assigned VHF does not work – switch to VHF 8 and broadcast “CALLSIGN, VHF X is bent, switching to VHF 8” so other flights know that freq is being
used. If your VHF doesn’t work and someone already took VHF 8, then you can go to VHF 9. VHF 10, etc…
•
WHAT IF DATALINK DOESN’T WORK FOR ONE OR MORE PILOTS?
• Unless your DATALINK host is shot down, once DATALINK is initialized it will not be reinitiated again. Anyone having issues should proceed as fragged and
rely on communication.
//TOP SECRET//
18. M3 – WHAT IF?
//TOP SECRET//
•
WHAT IF THE SAMS DO NOT GO DOWN?
• SKIPPER will still call RICK JAMES if he thinks the air picture is clear enough for the strike, and will inform BOSSMAN of the situation prior to clearing in on
target.
•
WHAT IF THE AIR PICTURE NEVER GETS CLEAR ENOUGH FOR CORONA TO PRESS?
• If the air picture is very bad, and SKIPPER is concerned they BUDWEISER cannot manage it within a reasonable timeframe, he will contact BOSSMAN and
request MAKO presses target early before the strikers. SKIPPER may call RICK JAMES with enemy fighters still in the area. But if the target area is
overwhelming with enemy fighters, then an abort will be called once too much fuel/ordnance has been expended.
•
WHAT IF THE SAMS DO NOT GO DOWN & THERE ARE ENEMY FIGHTERS STILL IN THE AREA?
• Combat is a fluid environment so this will depend on the situation. If RICK JAMES has not been called, SKIPPER will contact BOSSMAN, advise of the
situation, and BOSSMAN will decide if the risk is within acceptable levels for his package.
•
WHAT IF MY WINGMAN HAS AN ISSUE AND NEEDS TO RTB EARLY?
• Stick with your wingman and escort him home after checking w/ BOSSMAN/SKIPPER. NOBODY will RTB solo if they have a wingman.
SIMULATOR WHAT IF’s?
•
WHAT IF I GET IN THE PIT AND NEED TO BACK OUT AND REJOIN?
• Every pilot will get one opportunity to back out and come back in. YOU DO NOT NEED TO REQUEST CLEARANCE – JUST DO IT.
•
WHAT IF THE SERVER CRASHES?
• God forbid this happens, but if it does, Demo will text chat everyone back out. If it happens early in the mission we will restart, otherwise we will end the
mission.
•
WHAT IF I CAN’T COMMUNICATE ON IVC?
• If you have tried everything, including backing out and rejoining, you will have to back out from the mission.
•
WHAT IF I CTD?
• You can try rejoining. If It happens again, please sit this one out.
•
WHAT IF I’M SHOT DOWN? CAN I REJOIN IN ANOTHER JET IF ONE IS AVAILABLE?
• No, you are dead or captured, sorry.
•
WHAT IF I SPAWN ON TOP OF SOMEONE OR IN WEIRD SPOT?
• RAMP as normal – shouldn’t be a real issue.
//TOP SECRET//
19. M3 – THE BE CAREFUL’S
//TOP SECRET//
• BE CAREFUL TO CONTACT THE RIGHT TANKER, AND ONLY CONTACT THE TANKER WHEN EVERYONE IN YOUR
FLIGHT IS WITHIN 10 MILES OF THE TANKER. USE THE TANKER TACAN CHANNEL AND AWACS IF NEEDED TO
CONFIRM YOU HAVE THE RIGHT ONE. REMEMBER THAT THE TANKERS ARE KC-10, KC-135, KC-10, KC-135.
• IF YOU NEED TO LAND AT KWANGJU TO GET GAS BEFORE HITTING THE TARGET, BE VERY CARFUL LANDING
HEAVY.
• BE CAREFUL JOINING WITH A TANKER IF A FLIGHT IS STILL GETTING GAS. LET THEM KNOW YOU ARE WITH
THEM, FORM UP ON THE LEFT OBSERVATION IN A ECHELON FORMATION, AND WAIT FOR THEM TO INFORM YOU
THEY ARE DONE BEFORE GETTING GAS AND/OR CALLING THE TANKER.
• BE CAREFUL IF DOING LOW ALTITUDE ATTACKS – WHERE ARE GROUND UNITS OR TERRAIN SLOPES
(UNFORTUNATELY EVEN OVER WATER)
• BE CAREFUL NOT TO DECEND DOWN TO ENEMY FIGHTER’S ALTITUDE UNLESS YOU ABSOLUTELY HAVE TO. IF
THE ENEMIES ARE TAKING OFF OUT OF KUNSAN OR SEOSAN AND ARE DOWN ON THE DECK, DON’T DO THEM A
FAVOR BY DECENDING TO THEIR ALTITUDE TO ENGAGE. STAY HIGH AND MAINTAIN YOUR ADVANTAGE.
• STRIKERS BE CAREFUL WITH FUZE DELAYS IF STRIKING LOW
• STRIKERS BE CAREFUL WITH YOUR APPROACH HEADINGS AFTER TARGETS HAVE ALREADY BEEN HIT AS
SMOKE MAY BLOCK YOUR VISIBILITY. USE THE SMOKE TO DETERMINE THE WINDS AND ATTACK HEADING.
• BE CAREFUL LANDING ON THE FAT/SHORT RUNWAY AT SACHON – IT IS SHORT AND EASY TO OVERRUN.
• BE CAREFUL NOT TO TRANSMIT ON TAC 17 UNLESS IT IS MISSION CRITICAL. BE FLEXIBLE AND THINK ON YOUR
FEET, AND TRUST THE OTHER FLIGHTS TO DO THEIR JOB.
