TEMPERATURE-COMPENSATEDCRYSTAL OSCILLATOR
 The most common type of
temperature-compensated crystal
oscillator uses compensation circuits
and is based on the fundamental quartz
crystal.Quartz has both temperature and
stress properties that make it a good
candidate for this task.
 Furthermore, stress processing can
improve the frequency-temperature
performance of overtone crystals by
reducing phase noise and improving
short-term stability.
TEMPERATURE-SENSITIVE NETWORK
 A temperature-sensitive network
oscillator is a semiconductor device that
compensates for the effect of
temperature by altering the
characteristics of the underlying
oscillator.
 A typical temperature-sensitive
oscillator consists of an amplifier, a
crystal, and a varactor diode. A
compensation network is inserted
between the amplifier and the varactor
diode to implement a temperature-
sensitive compensation circuit.
WHAT IS AN OCXO
 An OCXO is a type of tunable crystal
oscillator, a component that must be
maintained in a temperature range to
function properly.
 The OCXO is analogous to a thermostat
in a house; it senses changes in
temperature and controls the furnace to
keep the interior comfortable.
 The OCXO has a "turning point" at
which the slope of the frequency versus
temperature curve becomes zero.
