CERAMIC RESONATORS
Uses, Types, And Working Principles
WHAT IS CERAMICRESONATOR ?
 A ceramic resonator is an electronic
device made of a piezoelectric ceramic
material that connects two or more
metal electrodes.
 When connected to the electrical
oscillator circuit, the resonant
mechanical vibration of the device
generates an oscillating signal at a
certain frequency.
 Ceramic resonators are made of stable
piezoelectric ceramics, mainly aluminum
zirconate titanate (PZT), which act as
mechanical resonators.
USES CERAMIC RESONATORS
 Ceramic resonators can be used as clock
signals in circuits such as
microprocessors where precision is not
important.
 [4] Quartz has a tolerance of 0.001%
and PZT has a tolerance of 0.5%. They
are used in the time circuits of many
applications such as televisions, video
recorders, automotive electronics,
telephones, copiers, cameras, voice
synthesizers, communication devices,
remote controls and toys.
TYPES CERAMIC RESONATORS
 There are several Ceramic resonators,
and you may wonder what they are
used for.
 These devices are used in various
applications and are often used in
electronic circuits instead of quartz
crystals.
 This is because they are less expensive
and smaller. To learn more, keep
reading! Listed below are some of the
main types of Ceramic resonators.
 Each is useful in different ways and will
be discussed in this article.
CERAMICRESONATORS MATERIALS
 Two primary materials for that ceramic
resonators are made from quartz
crystals and refractory metals.
 Both materials have a polarizing effect,
which occurs when mechanical forces
act on the material's dielectric
properties.
 The polarization is caused by opposite
charges binding on the surfaces of the
medium.
 The crystal's resonant frequency is
proportional to its size and shape.
