Followers Allocation in
Networked Systems
IEEE Research Boost 2016, Montreal
By David Buzorgnia
2
Necessity of the Intelligent
Networked Systems
Problems:
– According to the estimation of United Nations, urban population
will grow to the double of the current residents in the next 30
years.
– The limited capacity of the roads and
parking spaces will arise as a critical
problem.
Solutions:
– One-way vehicle sharing Lack of vehicles in some stations
and abundance in others
– Driverless cars Design the
autonomous driver transportation
network

Proposed Solution for Multi-Agent
System
Multi-Agent System
• Consensus Problem
Control Allocation
• Online optimization
• Redundant control inputs
with constraints
Followers Allocation:
• Leader completely depends on
the followers
• By using the control allocation
technique, leader can guide the
followers in order to minimize
the convergence time
Old Conception:
• Leader acts independently
• Followers imitate the
leader’s behaviour

Followers Allocation in
Transportation Network
Followers Allocation
• Centralized solution
Computer Network
• Decentralized solution
Decentralized Network
Optimization method
• Decentralized
Optimization (using a
dynamic cost function
Table)
• Minimizing the total cost
function for each follower
• Handling the network
constraints
5
Appling Followers Allocation in
Transportation Network
Station:
• Acts as the leader
• Based on the final destination,
sends the customers to the
neighbour stations
Driverless Car:
• Acts as the follower
Some of the main advantages:
• Rebalancing empty vehicles
• Choosing the travel path for passenger in order to
 Reduce the time of trip
 Decrease traffic volume
 Save fuel and consequently cost

Followers Allocation in Computer
Network
Since the fundamental of the proposed method has many
similarities with computer network, the proposed method with
some modifications can be defined as a new routing protocol.

3- Defining a proper cost function
Main advantages are reducing Bandwidth usage and delay
