Everbridge, Remote ~ 12/2014 to Present
Database Administrator Team Lead
Responsible for all aspects of database administration for all supported database platforms including:
MongoDB, ElasticSearch (Elastic), Oracle, PostgreSQL, and MySQL. Act as the team lead for the DBA
team. Act as the chief data and database architect for the firm including determining the correct database
platform and implementation for new applications.
• Implement a standardized set of maintenance jobs for all DBMS platforms.
• Design and implement Everbridge’s first BI data warehouse solution using MongoDB.
• Analyze and tune several DBMS related performance issues by changing the index schema and
rewriting queries.
• Replace the existing encryption at rest vendor with Vormetric encryption for all DBMS platforms.
• Develop and implement the ElasticSearch (Elastic) infrastructure for Everbridge.
• Analyzed and made recommendations to fix performance issues on the VM implementations for
MongoDB and ElasticSearch..

Lead Database Administrator
Responsible for all aspects of DB2 for LUW and MongoDB database administration including: installing and
configuring DB2, MongoDB and related software, implementation of database maintenance jobs, logical and
physical design, problem resolution, performance tuning, and mentoring of staff in DB2 technology. Some
specific accomplishments:
• Co-author of MetLife’s Uniform Maintenance Routines (UMRs) which are the enterprise standard
jobs for database maintenance.
• Implemented MetLife’s first NoSQL “Big Data” applications using MongoDB, including THE
WALL (MetLife’s first centralized view of all MetLife customers and all related data).
• Create and implement the MongoDB topology, including number of replicas, shards, shard keys,
configuration database and MongoS instances for new MongoDB applications at MetLife.
• Developed and maintain MetLife’s standards and best practices for DB2 for LUW and MongoDB
technologies.
• Educated and advised new applications on the strengths, weaknesses, and limitations of MongoDB as
well as how to properly design an application to use a document oriented database.
• Migrated several applications from MS SQL Server and Oracle to DB2.
• Zero preventable outages for all applications supported while at MetLife.
• Supported all versions of DB2 LUW from V5 to V10.1 as well as upgrades to all of these versions.
• Migrated several applications from log-shipping and HACMP to High Availability / Disaster
Recovery greatly reducing hardware and software costs while reducing failover times and data loss.
• Implemented Multi-Dimensional Clustering in several OLTP, DSS, and mixed environments to
specifically reduce list pre-fetch and low-card sorting.
• Conducted several classes and presentations on DB2 technology, problem resolution and
performance tuning.
• Mentored several Jr. DBAs to Sr. DBAs.
• Implemented compression in several of the largest databases which reduced the physical size of the
databases by more than 50% while improving performance.
• Acts as 3rd
level support at MetLife for DB2 LUW and MongoDB issues.
• Acts as an internal consultant for performance tuning of DB2 LUW applications and databases.
