DearlyBeloved,
Grace be unto you and peace from God the Father, and from our Lord Jesus
Christ, who gave himself for our sins that he might deliver us from this present
evilworldaccordingtothewillofGod andourFather.ToHimbegloryforever.
It is a new year for the Church, and a particularly important year because it
ushers us into another landmark in the life of the Church â RCCG's 70th
anniversary.
Without doubt, God has helped His Church tremendously, and has helped the
leadership of the Church in the pursuit of the peculiar mandate upon which this
commissionwas founded.
So, as we look forward to this glorious commemoration, if Jesus tarries, it is a
particularly appropriate time to remind ourselves about some fundamental
truths, not just as stakeholders in RCCG but as joint-heirs with Christ. One of
such realities is what has formed the theme of our HELPS WEEKEND for this
yearâwehavebeencreatedtodogoodworks.
Doing good works is natural to us, but there is an unfortunate trend today that
tends to subject this natural ability to bargain for positional relevance. This
shouldnotbeso!

More than ever before, the reality of our calling as âstewards of good worksâ (2
Cor. 6:1) to the different strata of the society has become more evident
especially with recent incidents across the world. The world is looking to the
Church for prayer interventions for individuals and groups (including the
nation and the world at large), economic interventions especially for the
vulnerable, conflict resolutions especially in family and communal lives,
advisory roles in governmental affairs, and a host of other related
interventions. These are good works that the Church must continue to do in
fulfilmentofitscallingassalttotheearthandlightoftheworld(Matt.5:13).
On this note, we wish everyone a glorious 2021 Helps weekend, and pray that
as you identify with important responsibility of the Church, may you receive
helpfromGod inJesus name.Amen.

Introduction
THE HONOURABLE WORKMAN
MEMORY VERSE: (II Timothy 2:20) âBut in a great house there are not
only vessels of gold and of silver, but also of wood and of earth; and some
to honour, and some to dishonour.â
TEXT: (II Timothy 2:20-21)
Our God is the God of plan and purpose. He does not do anything without a
reason. For example,when HewantedtocreatemanHesaid,
ââŠLet us make man in our imageâŠand let them have dominion over the fish
oftheseaâŠâ (Genesis1:26).
Also, whenGod sentHis onlybegottenSon totheworld, itwas forapurpose:
ââŠfor heshallsavehis peoplefromtheirsinsâ (Matthew.1:21).
Examples are inexhaustible. In the same vein, when God brings us to Himself
throughtheministryoftheChurch,itisforapurpose.
You are not in Church just to add to the number. Therefore, every child of God
must find out the divine purpose for his or her life. Every child of God must also
ensure that he or she is spiritually prepared as a vessel unto honour and not unto
dishonour. The striking thing about this truth is that both honourable and
dishonourablevesselsarefoundintheChurch!
Every Christian must therefore ensure that he or she is a vessel unto honour (II
Timothy 2:20). To be a vessel of honour, every child of God must purge himself
or herself of anything sinful act of behavior. Matthew 5:48 says: Be ye therefore
perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect. (II Corinthians 6:14-
18) says in part, that we should not touch the unclean thing; rather we should
separateourselvesfromtheworldofdarkness.
Avessel of honour according to the Psalmist does not walk in the counsel of the
ungodly, nor stand in the way of sinners, nor sit in the seat of the scornful (Psalm
1:1). Beloved, if you want to be used of God for good works, be ready to pay the
price of a true disciple and live holy. The Lord will not only use you but He will
reward you handsomely according to (Mark 10:28-30). As Christians, we have
the greatest calling, so let us make ourselves available for good and honourable
service.MaytheLordfindus tobeworthyvesselsinthemightnameofJesus.

TEXT: (Exodus15:1-21)
In Christ God has chosen sinners to be saved with one great end in view, that those
saved, both in this world and the next, will live to the praise of his glorious grace.
Thatwas therealityApostlePaulexercisedinthememoryverseabout.
This is what makes worship a different endeavor from random singing, and
ministrationdifferentfromperformance.
Like the experience of the children of Israel after the great salvation at the Red
Sea, great worship ensue only when worshippers are overwhelmed with the
greatnessofthegraceofGod.
Do you personally understand how outstandingly gracious the Lord is, and how
mind-blowing is his grace? It is this grace, so freely given to us, which makes real
worshippers, that is, redeemed sinners who are worshipping in spirit and in truth.
Itisthisgracethattakesourworship beyondlipserviceandperformance.
What isso amazingabout this grace?
This grace is God's unmerited favour to hell-deserving sinners. In other words,
God acted freely and redemptively according to his own nature as Love, to
accomplish the salvation of the fallen man. He was under no pressure or
compulsion to act in this manner, because the Bible recorded that the Lamb had
beenslainfromthefoundationoftheworld(Revelation13:8).
ExamplesofWhat ChristAccomplishedforUs through Grace:
a. In grace Christ has revealed the fullness of God to us (Colossians 1:19,
Colossians2:9).
b. IngraceChristhasreconciledus backtoGod (Colossians1:20-22)
c. In grace Christ gives us a divine birth â he regenerates us (John 3:1-5, Acts
2:33)
d. IngraceChristboughtmyperseverance(IThessalonians5:23,Jude1:1)
The choir of the Church of God is therefore a league of regenerated people, who
are duty-bound through the help of the Holy Spirit to sing of the marvelous grace
of the loving God. No wonder the composer of that famous hymn - âOWorship the

Kingââadmonishedus totellofHis mightandsingofHis grace.
To sing of the grace of God therefore, the choir of the Church of God must note
thefollowing:
a. You must lead from your identity in Christ (I Peter 2:9). Attempting to lead
other people in the worship of God based on other factors like talent, may be
futile in the end.At best, people will be excited and feel uplifted emotionally,
but their hearts are still far from God â It therefore becomes not different from
a musician's performance at road shows or concerts. Always lead from your
identityinChrist-thatiswheretrueworship emanatesfrom.
b. You must lead through the gospel (Romans 1:16-17). By that, our worship is
about God, His power, His righteousness and His grace â for the gospel
reveals Him, His power and His righteousness. These are the greatest needs of
maninthisworld(God, His RighteousnessandHis Power).
c. YoumustleadfromaplaceoffellowshipwiththeHolySpirit(John 4:23-24)
d. Youmustleadwithattentionandaffection(Hebrews 12:1-2,Mathew15:8-9)
Conclusion
Grace is a good work that God has wrought for mankind. The least we can do to
reciprocate the good work is to sing of His grace in worship and thanksgiving to
the God of grace. This in itself is a potent key that brings other people in contact

TEXT: (Psalm84:1,4,10)
Ushers are no push-asides in the House of God. They are the gate keepers and
enforcers of order (1 Cor. 14:40). As a matter of fact, they are purveyors of good
works in special and extraordinary ways than the stereotype that has been woven
aroundtheroleovertheyears.
Interestingly, the General Overseer, on more than one occasion, spoke about a
future when Ushers will become a great source of respite to Pastors because they
will begin to operate in miraculous dimensions that make people encounter
solutionsfromthegate.
This resonates with the understanding that an Usher is a spiritual ambassador for
the church. This is because Ushers, both as individuals and as a group, serve as the
âfirstrepresentativesâofChristforameetingorworship service.
Ushers have the ability to impact the lives of new and existing people in the
Church, and should be viewed as the âfront desk officerâ of the church because in
most cases, they provide the first impression about the church and the ministry of
thepastor.
In Christ, we have received God's unconditional love, and through Christ, we have
been called to extend that unconditional love to others. Ushers therefore play a
criticalroleinensuringthatpeopleseeandexperiencethatlove.
This speaks to the sensitivity of the role of Ushers as Ministers and ambassadors of
Christ. And that explains why as far as RCCG is concerned, the core values of
Ushers aresubsumedunderthecorevaluesoftheChurch.Thecorevaluesare:

A - Accountability
R - Resourcefulness

MarksoftheUsher's good work
a. The Usher enjoys and care about people. This portends that the usher must
possess theheartofaservant
b. Commitment to the vision and mission statement of the Church. This is very
important, because the ministry and service of every Minister under the
umbrella of RCCG finds expression under the vision and mission statement
of the Church. Therefore, knowledge of the doctrines of the church, the vision
andmissionstatements,areverycritical.
c. Provision of strategic support to the leadership of the Church, especiallyat the
level of operation (whether Parish, Area, Zone, Province, Region and at
Nationallevel)
d. Getting informed and staying informed about cardinal programs of the
Churchandaboutspecialmomentsrequiringinterventions
e. Maintaining a positive attitude and personal consecration. The Usher is not
less of a Minister. So, issues of personal consecrations should not be under-
valued or overridden. This is because serving as an Usher comes with its own
pressure, and it takes the working of the Holy Spirit not to cave under such
pressure (Galatians 5:22-23). Your spiritual relationship with the Lord must
be continually growing, such that your relationship with your fellow men
becomesexemplary,whethertheyareneworexistingmembers.
Conclusion
These are the days of incredible things, and it is only appropriate that those who
must walk in the reality of the incredible to be thoroughly equipped and prepared
for the good work (Psalm 110:3, II Timothy 2:21). The prophetic declaration of
the General Overseer of miracles happening from the gate is coming true in no
distanttime.Thequestionis,areweready?

MEMORY VERSE: (Luke 22:31-32) And the Lord said, Simon, Simon,
behold, satan has desired to have you, that he may sift you as wheat; But I
have prayed for you, that your faith should not fail. And when you are
converted, strengthen your brethren.
TEXT:(Acts12:1-12)
Intercession is the ministry of our Lord Jesus Christ himself (Romans 8:34,
Hebrews 7:25),andtheministryoftheHolySpirit(Romans8:26-27).
It is a ministry that was demonstrated throughout the Bible, from the days of
Abraham till the time of the Apostles. Prayers and intercession are at the heart of
whatitistoliveaChristianlife.
Interestingly, intercession is one of the proven ways through which the Spirit of
God moves to accomplish amazing things in the world through us. The one
engaging in it may neither see nor feel it, but a prayer of intercession made in
utmost sincerity of heart and commitment, is capable of causing light to shine in
darkregionsandsituations.
An intercessor's motivation therefore is not to try to decipher how God will
answer the sacrificial prayers being offered on behalf of others, but an expectation
tobeusedasGod asaninstrumentofachievingHis plans.
Intercessionand RCCG's visionand mission
RCCG is driven by a vision of making heaven and taking as many people as
possible along. The former requires an evangelistic drive in obedience to the great
commission recorded in Matthew 28:18-20. But beyond evangelism, intercession
is critical for the souls to be won. It is illustrative of the biblical injunction that one
cannot dispossess a strong man without first binding him (Matthew 12:29, Mark
3:27).
The highest call of intercession is prayer for the lost (those not yet reconciled to
God through the sacrifice of Jesus) to come to the knowledge of the saving power
andgraceofJesus.

These people need help, and it is the duty of believers to sow a seed in the place of
prayers,inanticipationofthesalvationofthepeople.
As far as the mission statement is concerned, which basically focuses on the
spread of the gospel to families, villages/towns and nations of the world, there is
also need for intense intercession to constantly declare the sovereignty of God
overterritories(IIThessalonians3:1).
Othercriticalvaluesofintercessioninthebelievers'community
Intercession is needed in our world today, in the believers' community, more than
ever, as we get deeper in the end time and as the persecution of Christian brethren
acrossthenationsandregionsoftheworldheightens.
Persistent intercession produces results and unleashes supernatural power for
victoryforourbrethrenthatareexperiencingoneformofdifficultyortheother.
Also, intercessory prayer is a force that crosses the borders of time and space, just
as it happened to Peter when Jesus interceded for him in Luke 22:31-32 (crossing
the border of time) and when the Church interceded for him in Acts 12:1-12
(crossingtheborderofspace).
Conclusion
If we channel the authority that the name of Jesus affords us to praying for others,
it is as good as unleashing the power of God to a revolutionary effect in the world
â like, to bring about salvation, revival, to rescue God's children from disaster,
embarrassment,etc.

MEMORY VERSE: (I John 3:17-18) But whoever has this world's goods, and sees
his brother in need, and shuts up his heart from him, how does the love of God
abide in him? MY little children, let us not love in word or in tongue, but indeed
and in truth
TEXT: (IJohn 3:11-18,James1:26-27)
The entire book of Acts of the Apostles provide sufficient information for those of us
living in this present time that the Church of Jesus Christ is one that is predicated on and
operatedwithlove,markedbygiving,especiallytothepoorandneedy.
God has a special heart for the poor and vulnerable among His people; and as those who
have become partakers of the divine nature, He expects us to also show intentional and
compassionategenerositytowardstheneedy.
It is so paramount in the heart of the Father, that Jesus identified caring for the poor as
synonymous tocaringforHim(Matthew25:45-46).
The story of the Good Samaritan recorded for us in Luke 10:29-37, teaches us that
anyone in need is our neighbor, and theApostle Paul took it a notch higher when he said
that as we have opportunity, we should do good to all people, especially to those of the
householdoffaith(Galatians6:10).
The love we have been appointed unto is not the love of the world. The love of the world
is one that takes â it is exploitative, it is demanding, it is selfish, it is transactional. This
explains why it is possible for someone to profess love to another, yet seek how to take
advantageofthefellow.
When we share our resources with people in needs, out of God's love, certain effects are
likelytoensue:
a. A sense of acceptance, belonging and fellowship is created in the receivers (II
Corinthians9:12-13)
b. Thanksgiving abound unto God (II Corinthians 9:11), which makes God pleased
withourfellowships
c. Prayers are offered unto God for the source of the provision (II Corinthians 9:14).
This means a love-inspired giver is not likely to lack men who will stand-in-the-gap
forhimorher.
d. Giving out of God's love is a tested way of restoring people unto productivity (John
15:1-5). God gave Jesus unto us, so that through that Blessed Gift, we can begin to
bearfruitsagain,justasGod designedus tobeinthebeginning.
Conclusion
LovingandgivingisnotanoptionforChristiansandtheChurch,itisanimperative.
God is not just looking for our worship or our engagement in religious activities. He is
looking for our love for Him demonstrated through our love for the poor and needy in
ourworld.Ask God tofillyouafreshwithHis compassion.
