“The problem is, once binge eating gets
hold of me, it’s impossible to shake the
habit without professional help.”
Paul, from Wakefield, West Yorks, added:
“The bigger I get, the more I seem to eat,
and the more I eat, the bigger I get — it’s
a vicious cycle.
“When I broke up with my partner late
last year, things spiralled out of control
and I’d use food for comfort.
“I know it’s my weight that’s landed me
in this hole, but food is my best friend.
‘I don’t have the cash to
buy quality food’
“I love pies, I can’t imagine a week
without chips and pasta is one of my
favourite snacks.
“I do eat salad and fruit but there’s no
taste in a stick of celery.
“If I have a blowout, I’ll punish myself
by eating even more because I hate myself
for getting this way.
“The thing is though, I just can’t help
being greedy.
“I’m not one of these people who
pretends I’ve got to this size by enjoying
too many carrots — I’m obese because I
overeat and I gorge on junk food.”
