2. ROLES OF AN AGENT
Represent, promote, and sell the
artist and their work
Pursue individual sales, License
deals, Publicity, and/or
opportunities like teaching,
events, or commissions for
artist
This would be Clyde in this
situation
3. Continued…
Clyde has more knowledge on negotiating contracts,
However, its not his responsibility to do so.
According to the Talent Agency of Law, he should be
license.
He can also book gigs and follow up with venues.
However as they become a bigger band I feel as if they
should hire someone else to be the agent.
4. Roles of Manager
Handles the day to day business
dealings
The artist is the creator and has
contol of overall vision its the
manger’s job to take it to the
next level by mapping out a
viable plan and executing it
This would be Snake according
to the scenario
5. Continued…
According to the readings and definition of Artist
Manager, in which they chose Snake to be, he is actually
the person who would negotiate the contract. However,
they should hire an attorney to negotiate the contract.
Snake would also be the persons who loads and unloads
the band equipment
He would also make sure they have all the beer that the
band members need.
6. Roles of an Attorney
Engaged to negotiate contracts,
render advice on legal and
business matters
Advocate the artist’s position
Protect the artist’s legal
interests
Overseas the work required
8. Definitely ……….
They should hire an attorney to make sure they are
legally covered and taken care of in the future to avoid
being taken advantage of.
They also need an attorney to finalize the terms of the
contracts and provide legal advice.
9. Advice?
I think that they should require that
their manager, Snake, knows his role
and what his responsibilities are. They
should also push him to go seek more
knowledge on how to be a manager.
Clyde is a member of the band and as
they become more popular he should
only be focused on his craft. They
should hire a professional artist agent
They should also utilize their attorney
to draft contracts for every one
involved including the band members,
artist agent, manager, and himself.
