The document discusses how golf is a mental game that requires focus and mental strength. The best golfers develop "tunnel vision" and focus only on the next shot, letting the rest of the world fade away. They are also able to quickly move on from mistakes by limiting their self-criticism to the 10 yards after an error. Golf also demands mental strength as it is not a short game, and those who can finish all holes despite challenges show determination. Being outside in nature also helps relieve stress and shows how golf benefits the mind.

Golf: The Mind Game

The best golfers have a “live in the moment” mindset
wherein they develop tunnel vision and focus on what’s
in front of them. When this happens, the rest of the
world fades away and only the next shot matters. If they
make a mistake, they seldom, if at all, dwell on it.
Veteran golfers even have what they call a “10 Yard
Rule” to help them cope with the stress of playing a bad
hole. They vent internally, scolding themselves in their
minds until they’re 10 yards from where the mistake
occurred. That’s when they stop and calm down.

Golf also requires players to be mentally strong. The
game is not a short one, and it’s very easy for people to
just put their hands up and call it a day. Those who finish
all holes are truly determined and strong-willed.
And if you have trouble convincing yourself about golf
being a mental game, just see how much stress is
relieved being in the great outdoors, breathing in fresh
air, and enjoying the calmness of the world.
