format and style review.
What this means for you:
By this date, Email a draft of your document to nglthesis@shsu.edu sothat we may
look over it for anyformatting or copyright issues.
Please provide the followinginformationwhensubmitting:
Phone andemail contact info.
Name of the style guide you're using.
If you are working ona journal-readymanuscript, provide a copyof the
journal's instructions for the author, plus 3 recentlypublishedarticles
from that journal.
Using the Document Checklist will help make the review process faster and easier.
April 4 Defense
Last dayto complete a public defense
of the Thesis/Dissertation. Last dayto
submit letter requestinga Permanent
Embargo to the Deanof Graduate
Studies.
What this means for you:
You shoulddefendinfront of your committee nolater than thisdate.
Once your committee has signedoff onyour document, submit an Electronic Route
Sheet. Once submitted, the route sheet automaticallyforwards to the next person
whose approval is required.
April 12 2nd Draft Review
Last dayto submit defended and
approved Thesis/Dissertationto Library
for 2nd format and style review.
What this means for you:
By this date, you needto email the committee approveddocument backto
nglthesis@shsu.edu for another review.
It should contain all edits as required by your committee members and advisor!
We will againlook over it for formatting issues that mayhave occurredduringthe
post-defense editingprocess.
At this time, our goal is to get your document readyfor publication. Using the
Document Checklist will help make the review process faster andeasier.
If you submittedanElectronic Route Sheet after defending, thenyou should
have no problem meeting the Academic Dean’s deadline.
April 19 Submit Final Draft & Route Sheet What this means for you:
3. Last dayto complete publicationof
Thesis/Dissertation through Vireo(or in
print for Permanent Embargo
students). Last dayto submit
Electronic Route Sheet to the Director
of the Library.
By this date, all edits to your document should have beencompleted, andyour
manuscript markedas readyfor publication in Vireo. Once approvedbya reviewer,
you will submit throughthe Vireo system.
No more edits may be made to the document once it hasbeen approvedand
submittedto Vireo for publication.
NOTE: The NewtonGresham Libraryis no longer involvedinthe printingand
bindingof thesesand dissertations. Students should contact their departments
and committee members to findout if copies are required.

Vireo andthe Route Sheet signedoffon bythe LibraryDirector.
This is the last day that the Deanof Graduate Studies will signoff on Route Sheets
for graduation.
