New Direction Maya Angelou Analysis
I'm going to be analyzing the short story, New Directions, By Maya Angelou. It's a story with a strong theme of courage. A book that reminds us
that we can still make a name for ourselves, even if we have to do it alone. I'll be discussing a few of the key elements of the story such as the plot,
setting, and mood in this analysis. The plot, or basic storyline, of this short story is about a black woman, Annie Johnson, based in the United States
before 1905. Her marriage had collapsed due to her husband leaving her to pursue religion in Oklahoma and leaving her with very little money. The
plotline develops on to show her struggle to support herself and her two sons and how she has to use courage to support herself and her family....show

This is set specifically during the time in the US where racism is thriving and was very hard for people of color to make a name for themselves.
Therefore Maya Angelou could relay the hardship that those times really would have impacted on Annie Johnson's life through the setting. To add
on to Annie's struggle, the author made her a woman because during the time this story is set in, if it were a man it would be easier for him to find
work and support himself because in those days a lot of women did not work. So Annie pursuing through the hard times she was provided with in
this setting really relays the idea of the theme of courage in the story. For the final element I'm analyzing in the story I'm going to discuss the mood.
In the story the mood actually changes up a bit. In the beginning the author is describing how Annie's husband left her and how she'll have to raise
her sons on her own with almost no money so it is quite somber. But as the story progresses on and Annie begins to make a name for herself and have
a successful career by preserving on her own the story ends by leaving the reader feeling optimistic and hopeful because the courage Annie had
throughout the entire story worked off and made her a happy successful woman. New Directions provided a story with a strong theme of courage. That
theme was brought out through the use of the plot, setting, and mood in this short

One Direction : How Did One Direction Start?
How did One Direction begin? It all started in 2010 on a TV singing show in the UK called Xfactor. Five individual guys audition not knowing
what the next couple of weeks will bring. Season 7 started off and all five members Niall, Zayn, Liam, Harry and Louis kicked it off by going to
boot camp. Through boot camp they had to learn how to dance and team up with other people to go to the next round. They all had difficulties dancing,
but Zayn had it the worse to where he wanted to quit and Simon Cowell convinced him otherwise. At the end of boot camp, they were all sent home
crushing all of them. As they were about to leave they were called back with another set of girls and were told they'll get a second chance as a band.
As a band,

Sadly, during the OTRA tour on March 31 st, 2015 Zayn deicides to leave the band due to stress.
With him leaving caused fans to become upset with him. One even said, "ZAYN
LEAVING THE BAND LITERALLY RIPPED A PART OF MY SOUL AWAY OF ME" and
"PRAY FOR ZAYN GIRLS THEY NEED IT." (Schwartz) While everyone was still in shock, the other four continued on with the tour and finished it
out. Later the four of them released an album called Made in The A.M., that was good, but not the same without Zayn. In January, He released his first
single as a solo artist it was called Pillowtalk which was a hit, then he dropped his album in March called Mind of Mine. The remainder of the group
decided to take a "break" and do solo things in their life now. "Many months after Zayn had scored a chart–topper with
"Pillowtalk," Irish singer Niall Horan became the second 1D vocalist to reach the highest region as a solo man. His first cut under his own name, the
One Direction–soundalike "This Town," made it all the way to No. 9 in the U.K., while it peaked slightly higher in his home country, stalling at No. 6.
Recent follow–up single "Slow Hands," which sees the singer going in a sexier direction, has yet to grow to its full potential." (McIntyre) At the end
of 2016 Louis released his first single and dedicated it to the passing of his mother on the finale of Xfactor.

In 2017, Harry releases his first single in April and continues on by releasing a full album in May. Also during that

Perseverance Essay
What is perseverance? Perseverance is the ability to go on when things seem hopeless. It is also a measure of success, or at least how much sacrifice
one is willing to make in the name of success. As students, it is impossible to achieve personal success without having a goal, or direction. The goal
and direction that often propels us to achieve is perseverance. Perseverance is the ability to forge ahead despite setbacks that threaten to undermine all
efforts to succeed.
We are high school students and that means that the sense of urgency to strive for and to achieve personal success is now. With this urgency comes
the expectation of having to persevere. This year has not been as easy one for us as a school body. We have been

There is no shame in falling; the shame is in accepting the the fall as defeat. Nelson Mandella once said, "The greatest glory in living lies not in never
falling, but in rising every time you fall." That is the essence of persevering––finding the will to get up even though you know you are being counted
out.
Each day is a challenge for some of us. Some of you struggle to get up each morning and make it to school. But you find it within yourself to do
because the hope of a better tomorrow compels you to do so. It is not easy to explain to teachers or other students that there was no one to wake
you up and see that you were ready for school. The moment you leave your house and step on the bus, you are one step closer to realizing your
dream, to fulfilling your purpose. That is what perseverance is. It is the finding the strength to do the impossible because you know that all things
are possible. It is understanding that your tomorrow has great possibilities because of the steps you take today. I had a neighbor whose parents were
divorced, but it seems like both parents divorced her. Her mother had custody, but she was seldom around. My friend raised herself. She gave a whole
new meaning to the phrase "putting yourself through school", but she was in middle school. However, she had a dream of something better and it was
evident that it required self–motivation and determination.

Descriptive Essay About One Direction
In the music industry, they usually form the typical music group or boy band that can sing, dance, and are exceptional looking that appeal to teenage
girls. In this case it was no exception. Nevertheless, that didn't matter, as millions of girls would line up the streets just to see a glimpse of them. The
band that I'm talking about is One Direction. They are an English–Irish pop boy band originated from London, England. The band has gained millions
upon millions of dedicated and loyal fans over their music careers. This profile will be centered on Directioners (Fan base nickname) who are viewed as
crazy or a mob of hysteria teenage hormones. Furthermore, the effects of what causes these kind of emotions towards the band.
I first recognize One Direction when I saw a promo for their album on tv and decided to check it out. I was intrigued by them and told my younger
sister about them, which turned out to be a mistake on my part, considering, she soon became their number one fan. She bought their album and started
listening to them twenty four–seven, repeating the song "What make you beautiful" over and over again. Then she bought T–shirts, bracelets, and
magazines just to get the posters that had the band on them. Pretty much anything that was their merchandise she would convince our parents to buy it
for her. I have never seen her like this before and perceive that she became obsessed with them.
My sister would wake up early to watch them perform on a

Following Directions
Following directions is very important. No one should have to repeat themselves more than once to tell anyone to follow directions. Following
directions shows just how much respect you have. If you do not listen, you miss out on important information. Directions are only given out once and
not needed to be repeated more than that. If you ask to repeat directions then that means that you were not listening. When you are not listening that
means you are not following directions. It is the teachers directions to give them to you. You should remember that it is your part to listen. No one
wants to keep repeating over and over. Since LEAP is coming up, following directions is what we should be doing. That she be our only priority for us

Importance Of Following Directions In A Lab
Following the directions in the lab is important because if you make a mistake it could harm someone or even yourself. You have to make sure
that you are prepared in the lab because you can not leave things running and you walk away on it, that could be dangerous. Also if you don't
follow the directions in the lab you could get kicked out and fail whatever you were working on, and then you couldn't get to experience whatever
the class was doing in the lab. So if you are ever in the lab you have to make sure to follow the rules or you will get hurt or you could fail the lab.

I find myself in a daze of happiness as I realize what i'm on the brisk of accomplishing. Despite the screams of thousands of drunken women in their
20s in my ears and the cringe–worthy feeling of their sweaty bodies practically compressed on mine, I'm exuberant. Not only am I exuberant in this
moment, but i'm also eternally grateful for being as small as I am, without it I probably would not have been able to maneuver myself into the front
and center spot at the one direction concert and fulfilled my middle school heart's biggest desire. To most people, this achievement would seem
irrelevant and insignificant, however, If you ever told 12–year–old me that, I might've raised hell from beneath me. Now here's where it all began;
Every year that One Direction toured in Chicago, my parents gifted me what I considered the equivalent of life, One Direction concert tickets. Always
relatively close to the stage, never close enough. Christmas of 2014 rolled around, when tickets would be inevitably gifted to me. However, when they
weren't, my world came crumbling down around me. Luckily for me, my parents bought them in January when the only seats left were floor seats.

Management And Future Direction Of A Business
Chapter Overview Chapter 3 talks about how decision–making skills are put to work in making strategic choices for the management and future
direction of a business. Goals that companies make are targets or results that managers hope to achieve. Managers must plan out what needs to get
done, when it will get done, who will do it and how it will be done. When it comes to plans, there are two basic components: goals and action. "Formal
plans are written documents that capture key strategic objectives for the future direction of the organization as a whole. Functional plans, as the term
implies, focus on functional areas of the organization, such as sales and marketing, production, and finance." (Ghillyer, 2012, p. 65) Managers test
these alternatives to measure its effectiveness to the company. During this time, managers see the pros and cons to each alternative. After looking at the
best alternatives, managers must then make a decision. Decision–making skills help managers decide on one course of action to take. No plan is made
without making a decision first. "Whenever decisions are characterized by multiple and conflicting objectives and a complex array of alternatives with
uncertain outcomes – a nearly universal situation in environmental management – people are likely to enter into a decision making process with plenty
of emotions and strong positions but a poor understanding of relationships and consequences." (Gregory et al., 2012). Many factors are taken into

Technology is one of the greatest inventions in recent times as a result of increased application in various parts of the economy. Competition in the
field has made it necessary for firms to adopt strategic plans in the process. Strategic plans play the vital role of guiding firms on ways to overcome

one of the most effective methods through which companies may choose innovation projects. In this method, a company evaluates various ideas
presented by various innovators in a bid to choose the best. The other method is expert evaluation of projects presented. In this mode, innovators
present their ideas to a pool of professionals who then evaluate success or failure of a project (Knight, 2015). Direct evaluation is the other method that
may be used while evaluating projects. The innovator in this case is tasked with the responsibility of inventing and testing the product. A metric
measure is the other method that may be used while choosing innovation projects. The first test in this process is conducting a feasibility test of a

The Importance Of Following Directions
No matter if you are older or younger following directions is an important skill to learn in life. By following every detail of instructions it will give
you a better understanding of the test. If you do not follow simple or important instructions you might hurt yourself or harm anyone around you.
Sometimes directions could be confusing, but if not followed properly the procedure at hand would not come out the right way. In the workplace,
you will see that if you do what is told you will accomplish your job requirements. Although following directions is a form of a skill you should have
been taught it from being a child. Say for instance you have to take medicine, if you don't follow the guidelines it can become fatal. Scary isn't it?, based

One Direction Concert Report Essay
One of the concerts that I have attended was One Direction's. One direction was formed by a group of boys from London in 2010. These young men
were also known as Niall Horan, Zayn Malik, Liam Payne, Harry Styles and Louis Tomlinson. The band started off from a British talent show on
television called the X Factor. During the audition, the boys were eliminated as individuals, but Simon Cowell saw great potential in these young men
as a group. He decided to make it happen by giving them another chance to perform together, and indeed they became famous ever since the formation

I loved the fact that the intro started with an acoustic plucking followed by Zayn Malik's solo, the lead singer. I also admire this song because it
delivers a message about appreciation – appreciation for the best things about someone that most people do not usually expect. However, I did not like
the fact that the song did not include a higher pitched instrument for the climax or bridge of the song. They could have used a violin to harmonize with
the melody of the guitar. It would have produced an increased intimacy between the song and the audience. I also did not enjoy them giving the best
part of the song which was the ending of the bridge, "If I let you know I'm here for you, maybe you'll love yourself like I love you" to the audience
instead of singing it themselves. I paid to see them perform their songs, not to sing it for them nor hear other fans sing it. Overall, I loved the song.
When I heard it performed live, I felt more connected to One Direction and also with myself. It was as if the song was trying to tell me that I need to
love myself despite my flaws because there are some people who would like the things about me that I dislike about myself. In addition, I enjoyed the
order of the solos and the instrumentation. However, I believe that it could have been improved with a soprano instrument (preferably a violin because
it has a more subtle effect unlike the other soprano instruments such as the trumpet, oboe, and

Directing A Play Directing Essay
Many directing basics can be found in directing history, and frequently still apply. For theatre to reach full potential, a director would need to impose
an individualistic point of view while incorporating the collaboration of all aspects of the production. In addition, the director should plan the location
of the play (venue), select a script, put together a reliable cast and crew, and organize rehearsals. These are important aspects in making sure the
production runs smoothly. What roles does a director need to fill to successfully direct a play?
An approach a successful director may want to take is to know the history. "The director as a separate and important entity impacted the theatre world in
1874 when the Duke of Saxe–Meiningen toured...show more content...
"A lot of thought has to be devoted to making the right choice of production. The main factors to consider are the available talent and the potential
audience." (Graham, 1997–2010) The director should decide on a script best reflecting the cast, and portray an appropriate feel towards the audience
intended for. This means one should consider the genre of the play wished to be presented.
While researching directing history, the director should have analyzed and understood the different genres of plays. "Many directors feel more
comfortable directing specific types of play; comedy, drama, farce or another style. (do I have to explain)? Hopefully reading several styles of play will
help a director visualise the possible problems and benefits." (Graham, 1997–2010) Once the script is chosen, the director must completely read and
comprehend the script. The director should have a vision or an inspiration for the play before the play has begun. This is where the director can inflict
individuality, and decide how one will interpret the script. "Imagine the action of the play. Have an idea of how each scene should look and sound. As
you develop the "dream" in your mind, directing simply becomes a matter of communicating your vision to your actors."(Stone, 2005–2015) The way a
script is delivered can differ from a variety of directors, since how a director interprets and visualizes a script is determined by the

Life of Anne Moody Essays
Anne Moody has gone through such an exceptionally eventful life that she was able to transform it into a powerful book, "A Coming of Age in
Mississippi." All of Anne's childhood not only prepared her for her involvement in the movement during the 1960's, but also kept her inspired and
motivated. Anne Moody sees a lot of ups and downs, which causes her to have depressing set backs from time to time. As told through out the book,
describing her first twenty–four–years, her uncertainty is justified, yet overall the book does tell a story of success, found not only in Anne's personal

Anne was immediately confused by their presence because they seemed to be just like her except for skin color. On one occasion all the children were
playing together in the lobby of a movie theater. Anne was with some local white children playing, but when it was time to enter the movie lobby the
white children went in one direction and Anne went in after her friends. Her disapproving mother quickly stopped Anne and they left the theater.
Before this instance Anne had never considered the coincidence that all the white children watched the movie from the bottom terrace and all the
African America children from the top terrace. While thinking about the difference Anne realized that the bottom terrace and side entrance was much
more luxurious than the raggedy top terrace, where she and her mother usually sat (38–2). After this the difference in skin color became much more
apparent to her in everyday life. Anne was motivated to find the answers as to why she was treated differently because of the color of her skin.
Several years later Anne was fifteen and working for Mrs. Burke, a white lady that ran guild meetings out of her house. By this time the town had
began to have misfortunate events happen to African Americans. It seemed as if they were being ran out of town or murdered one by one. A boy
named Emmitt Till, Anne's age, had been murdered for supposedly disrespecting an older white woman. This took a large impact on Anne, and her
mother put a fear in

Why Is It Important to Follow Directions? Essay
I think it is important to follow directions because if people didn't follow directions we would have a lot of CHAOS in our world!!! The reason
why we would have chaos is because kids would do drugs, have kids at REALLY young ages and there would probably be more homeless people. I
think it is important to follow directions because for instance you could be walking across the street (say there's no speed limit, red lights/stop signs
or anything like that) you would obviously get hit by a car and most likely end up in the hospital or be dead on the spot. That's why there are traffic
rules that should be followed.
Another reason following rules is important is if there were to be a man with a weapon at school. If a little kid didn't pay...show more content...
If you don't listen to your parents, you can grounded, have candy, your cell phone, or computer time taken away or have no friends over. In school,
if you don't listen to your teacher, you can be embarrassed in front of the class, have to do extra work (like this essay), lose class points, or even get
kicked out of the class. You will also not get good grades because you wouldn't be paying attention to learn anything. You could also distract other kids
around you that want to learn.
Another important thing is organization so you don't lose things and keep important things in the places that they belong. I've learned that the hard
way! I have spent a lot of time doing homework assignments, then misplaced them and was unable to turn them in. I also didn't get 100% on my
science binder since I couldn't find some of my assignments and notes. I had a good talk with Mrs. Merolo and Fray about being organized. Mrs.
Merolo helped me by giving me a folder where I could put my homework "to do" on one side and things to "turn in" on the other side. Fray taught
me how to organize my assignments, quizzes, tests, bell work and notes in my binder, which has helped me to find my things when I need to study for
quizzes and tests. I think I will be able to get better grades after this.
Following rules also means following what it says on a sign. For example, stop signs, yield signs, traffic lights, mens and womens bathroom signs,
pool signs (i.e. no

I prefer to work in an environment where the power distance index is low and every member can participate in the decision–making process. For my
part, multi–directional communication is more effective than top–down communication. I also enjoy the working environment that encourages
creativity and innovation. Additionally, I prefer to work in an organization advocating communication and commitment. Smooth communication
increases productivity. Relationships should be as important as tasks in an organization. Besides, an adaptive organization that can react to various
challenges and changes is better.
I am most comfortable with individual risks, such as the delivery of negative feedback and proposing innovation. As an adoptive person, I am also
comfortable with some emerging risks to a great degree, such as frequent job changes and virtual workplace. However, I am not a sociable person.
Therefore, I am most uncomfortable with some relational risks, such as keeping good relationships with peers and supervisors. Form a collective

New Direction Maya Angelou Analysis

  • 1. New Direction Maya Angelou Analysis I'm going to be analyzing the short story, New Directions, By Maya Angelou. It's a story with a strong theme of courage. A book that reminds us that we can still make a name for ourselves, even if we have to do it alone. I'll be discussing a few of the key elements of the story such as the plot, setting, and mood in this analysis. The plot, or basic storyline, of this short story is about a black woman, Annie Johnson, based in the United States before 1905. Her marriage had collapsed due to her husband leaving her to pursue religion in Oklahoma and leaving her with very little money. The plotline develops on to show her struggle to support herself and her two sons and how she has to use courage to support herself and her family....show more content... This is set specifically during the time in the US where racism is thriving and was very hard for people of color to make a name for themselves. Therefore Maya Angelou could relay the hardship that those times really would have impacted on Annie Johnson's life through the setting. To add on to Annie's struggle, the author made her a woman because during the time this story is set in, if it were a man it would be easier for him to find work and support himself because in those days a lot of women did not work. So Annie pursuing through the hard times she was provided with in this setting really relays the idea of the theme of courage in the story. For the final element I'm analyzing in the story I'm going to discuss the mood. In the story the mood actually changes up a bit. In the beginning the author is describing how Annie's husband left her and how she'll have to raise her sons on her own with almost no money so it is quite somber. But as the story progresses on and Annie begins to make a name for herself and have a successful career by preserving on her own the story ends by leaving the reader feeling optimistic and hopeful because the courage Annie had throughout the entire story worked off and made her a happy successful woman. New Directions provided a story with a strong theme of courage. That theme was brought out through the use of the plot, setting, and mood in this short Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 2. One Direction : How Did One Direction Start? How did One Direction begin? It all started in 2010 on a TV singing show in the UK called Xfactor. Five individual guys audition not knowing what the next couple of weeks will bring. Season 7 started off and all five members Niall, Zayn, Liam, Harry and Louis kicked it off by going to boot camp. Through boot camp they had to learn how to dance and team up with other people to go to the next round. They all had difficulties dancing, but Zayn had it the worse to where he wanted to quit and Simon Cowell convinced him otherwise. At the end of boot camp, they were all sent home crushing all of them. As they were about to leave they were called back with another set of girls and were told they'll get a second chance as a band. As a band, they...show more content... Sadly, during the OTRA tour on March 31 st, 2015 Zayn deicides to leave the band due to stress. With him leaving caused fans to become upset with him. One even said, "ZAYN LEAVING THE BAND LITERALLY RIPPED A PART OF MY SOUL AWAY OF ME" and "PRAY FOR ZAYN GIRLS THEY NEED IT." (Schwartz) While everyone was still in shock, the other four continued on with the tour and finished it out. Later the four of them released an album called Made in The A.M., that was good, but not the same without Zayn. In January, He released his first single as a solo artist it was called Pillowtalk which was a hit, then he dropped his album in March called Mind of Mine. The remainder of the group decided to take a "break" and do solo things in their life now. "Many months after Zayn had scored a chart–topper with "Pillowtalk," Irish singer Niall Horan became the second 1D vocalist to reach the highest region as a solo man. His first cut under his own name, the One Direction–soundalike "This Town," made it all the way to No. 9 in the U.K., while it peaked slightly higher in his home country, stalling at No. 6. Recent follow–up single "Slow Hands," which sees the singer going in a sexier direction, has yet to grow to its full potential." (McIntyre) At the end of 2016 Louis released his first single and dedicated it to the passing of his mother on the finale of Xfactor. Cisneros 3 In 2017, Harry releases his first single in April and continues on by releasing a full album in May. Also during that Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 3. Perseverance Essay What is perseverance? Perseverance is the ability to go on when things seem hopeless. It is also a measure of success, or at least how much sacrifice one is willing to make in the name of success. As students, it is impossible to achieve personal success without having a goal, or direction. The goal and direction that often propels us to achieve is perseverance. Perseverance is the ability to forge ahead despite setbacks that threaten to undermine all efforts to succeed. We are high school students and that means that the sense of urgency to strive for and to achieve personal success is now. With this urgency comes the expectation of having to persevere. This year has not been as easy one for us as a school body. We have been ...show more content... There is no shame in falling; the shame is in accepting the the fall as defeat. Nelson Mandella once said, "The greatest glory in living lies not in never falling, but in rising every time you fall." That is the essence of persevering––finding the will to get up even though you know you are being counted out. Each day is a challenge for some of us. Some of you struggle to get up each morning and make it to school. But you find it within yourself to do because the hope of a better tomorrow compels you to do so. It is not easy to explain to teachers or other students that there was no one to wake you up and see that you were ready for school. The moment you leave your house and step on the bus, you are one step closer to realizing your dream, to fulfilling your purpose. That is what perseverance is. It is the finding the strength to do the impossible because you know that all things are possible. It is understanding that your tomorrow has great possibilities because of the steps you take today. I had a neighbor whose parents were divorced, but it seems like both parents divorced her. Her mother had custody, but she was seldom around. My friend raised herself. She gave a whole new meaning to the phrase "putting yourself through school", but she was in middle school. However, she had a dream of something better and it was evident that it required self–motivation and determination. We have all been called upon Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 4. Descriptive Essay About One Direction In the music industry, they usually form the typical music group or boy band that can sing, dance, and are exceptional looking that appeal to teenage girls. In this case it was no exception. Nevertheless, that didn't matter, as millions of girls would line up the streets just to see a glimpse of them. The band that I'm talking about is One Direction. They are an English–Irish pop boy band originated from London, England. The band has gained millions upon millions of dedicated and loyal fans over their music careers. This profile will be centered on Directioners (Fan base nickname) who are viewed as crazy or a mob of hysteria teenage hormones. Furthermore, the effects of what causes these kind of emotions towards the band. I first recognize One Direction when I saw a promo for their album on tv and decided to check it out. I was intrigued by them and told my younger sister about them, which turned out to be a mistake on my part, considering, she soon became their number one fan. She bought their album and started listening to them twenty four–seven, repeating the song "What make you beautiful" over and over again. Then she bought T–shirts, bracelets, and magazines just to get the posters that had the band on them. Pretty much anything that was their merchandise she would convince our parents to buy it for her. I have never seen her like this before and perceive that she became obsessed with them. My sister would wake up early to watch them perform on a Get more content on HelpWriting.net

  • 6. Following Directions Following directions is very important. No one should have to repeat themselves more than once to tell anyone to follow directions. Following directions shows just how much respect you have. If you do not listen, you miss out on important information. Directions are only given out once and not needed to be repeated more than that. If you ask to repeat directions then that means that you were not listening. When you are not listening that means you are not following directions. It is the teachers directions to give them to you. You should remember that it is your part to listen. You have to make sure that you are prepared in the lab because you can not leave things running and you walk away on it, that could be dangerous. Also if you don't follow the directions in the lab you could get kicked out and fail whatever you were working on, and then you couldn't get to experience whatever the class was doing in the lab. So if you are ever in the lab you have to make sure to follow the rules or you will get hurt or you could fail the lab. Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 8. One Direction Scholarship Essay I find myself in a daze of happiness as I realize what i'm on the brisk of accomplishing. Despite the screams of thousands of drunken women in their 20s in my ears and the cringe–worthy feeling of their sweaty bodies practically compressed on mine, I'm exuberant. Not only am I exuberant in this moment, but i'm also eternally grateful for being as small as I am, without it I probably would not have been able to maneuver myself into the front and center spot at the one direction concert and fulfilled my middle school heart's biggest desire. To most people, this achievement would seem irrelevant and insignificant, however, If you ever told 12–year–old me that, I might've raised hell from beneath me. Now here's where it all began; Every year that One Direction toured in Chicago, my parents gifted me what I considered the equivalent of life, One Direction concert tickets. Always relatively close to the stage, never close enough. Christmas of 2014 rolled around, when tickets would be inevitably gifted to me. However, when they weren't, my world came crumbling down around me. Luckily for me, my parents bought them in January when the only seats left were floor seats. Winter ended... Our seats were on the floor so it took little time and effort to get situated. Looking back, I hardly remember the opening act, my thoughts drowned out the music they performed maybe 30 feet from me. • 9. Management And Future Direction Of A Business Chapter Overview Chapter 3 talks about how decision–making skills are put to work in making strategic choices for the management and future direction of a business. Goals that companies make are targets or results that managers hope to achieve. Managers must plan out what needs to get done, when it will get done, who will do it and how it will be done. When it comes to plans, there are two basic components: goals and action. "Formal plans are written documents that capture key strategic objectives for the future direction of the organization as a whole. Functional plans, as the term implies, focus on functional areas of the organization, such as sales and marketing, production, and finance." (Ghillyer, 2012, p. 65) Managers test these alternatives to measure its effectiveness to the company. During this time, managers see the pros and cons to each alternative. After looking at the best alternatives, managers must then make a decision. Decision–making skills help managers decide on one course of action to take. No plan is made without making a decision first. "Whenever decisions are characterized by multiple and conflicting objectives and a complex array of alternatives with uncertain outcomes – a nearly universal situation in environmental management – people are likely to enter into a decision making process with plenty of emotions and strong positions but a poor understanding of relationships and consequences." (Gregory et al., 2012). Many factors are taken into Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 10. Defining the Organization's Strategic Direction Competition in the technology industry has been on the rise due to inventions made in the field. Technology is one of the greatest inventions in recent times as a result of increased application in various parts of the economy. Competition in the field has made it necessary for firms to adopt strategic plans in the process. Strategic plans play the vital role of guiding firms on ways to overcome competition (Saebi, & Foss, 2015). A good competitive strategy acts as a guide for a company to identify competitors and future opportunities. The first step in the process is assessing a company's external environment in line with competitors in the industry, the number of existing...show more content... Trial and error method is one of the most utilized methods by most industries in the field. The technical team in this case is tasked with responsibility of making prototypes for various products. It is however possible for a company to choose innovation projects using other methods. Peer evaluation is one of the most effective methods through which companies may choose innovation projects. In this method, a company evaluates various ideas presented by various innovators in a bid to choose the best. The other method is expert evaluation of projects presented. In this mode, innovators present their ideas to a pool of professionals who then evaluate success or failure of a project (Knight, 2015). Direct evaluation is the other method that may be used while evaluating projects. The innovator in this case is tasked with the responsibility of inventing and testing the product. A metric measure is the other method that may be used while choosing innovation projects. The first test in this process is conducting a feasibility test of a given project. It is easier to determine availability of material and labor at the initial stages. Market performance of a given product is the other factor that is put into consideration. It is important for a company in this case to assess potential of return on investment using metrics. 2.Collaboration Strategies Business partnerships are common in various Get more content on HelpWriting.net

By following every detail of instructions it will give you a better understanding of the test. If you do not follow simple or important instructions you might hurt yourself or harm anyone around you. Sometimes directions could be confusing, but if not followed properly the procedure at hand would not come out the right way. In the workplace, you will see that if you do what is told you will accomplish your job requirements. • 12. One Direction Concert Report Essay One of the concerts that I have attended was One Direction's. One direction was formed by a group of boys from London in 2010. These young men were also known as Niall Horan, Zayn Malik, Liam Payne, Harry Styles and Louis Tomlinson. The band started off from a British talent show on television called the X Factor. During the audition, the boys were eliminated as individuals, but Simon Cowell saw great potential in these young men as a group. He decided to make it happen by giving them another chance to perform together, and indeed they became famous ever since the formation of the English–Irish boy band One Direction. On the 13th of September last year, I attended their Where We Are tour. It took place in Rose Bowl, Pasadena. The...show more content... I loved the fact that the intro started with an acoustic plucking followed by Zayn Malik's solo, the lead singer. I also admire this song because it delivers a message about appreciation – appreciation for the best things about someone that most people do not usually expect. However, I did not like the fact that the song did not include a higher pitched instrument for the climax or bridge of the song. They could have used a violin to harmonize with the melody of the guitar. It would have produced an increased intimacy between the song and the audience. I also did not enjoy them giving the best part of the song which was the ending of the bridge, "If I let you know I'm here for you, maybe you'll love yourself like I love you" to the audience instead of singing it themselves. I paid to see them perform their songs, not to sing it for them nor hear other fans sing it. Overall, I loved the song. When I heard it performed live, I felt more connected to One Direction and also with myself. It was as if the song was trying to tell me that I need to love myself despite my flaws because there are some people who would like the things about me that I dislike about myself. In addition, I enjoyed the order of the solos and the instrumentation. However, I believe that it could have been improved with a soprano instrument (preferably a violin because it has a more subtle effect unlike the other soprano instruments such as the trumpet, oboe, and Get more content on HelpWriting.net

Simon Cowell called them to his office after Christmas and informed them that he was going to sign them to him, not knowing how successful they would turn out to be. For theatre to reach full potential, a director would need to impose an individualistic point of view while incorporating the collaboration of all aspects of the production. In addition, the director should plan the location of the play (venue), select a script, put together a reliable cast and crew, and organize rehearsals. These are important aspects in making sure the production runs smoothly. What roles does a director need to fill to successfully direct a play? An approach a successful director may want to take is to know the history. "The director as a separate and important entity impacted the theatre world in 1874 when the Duke of Saxe–Meiningen toured...show more content... "A lot of thought has to be devoted to making the right choice of production. The main factors to consider are the available talent and the potential audience." (Graham, 1997–2010) The director should decide on a script best reflecting the cast, and portray an appropriate feel towards the audience intended for. This means one should consider the genre of the play wished to be presented. While researching directing history, the director should have analyzed and understood the different genres of plays. "Many directors feel more comfortable directing specific types of play; comedy, drama, farce or another style. (do I have to explain)? Hopefully reading several styles of play will help a director visualise the possible problems and benefits." (Graham, 1997–2010) Once the script is chosen, the director must completely read and comprehend the script. The director should have a vision or an inspiration for the play before the play has begun. This is where the director can inflict individuality, and decide how one will interpret the script. "Imagine the action of the play. Have an idea of how each scene should look and sound. As you develop the "dream" in your mind, directing simply becomes a matter of communicating your vision to your actors."(Stone, 2005–2015) The way a script is delivered can differ from a variety of directors, since how a director interprets and visualizes a script is determined by the Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 15. Life of Anne Moody Essays Anne Moody has gone through such an exceptionally eventful life that she was able to transform it into a powerful book, "A Coming of Age in Mississippi." All of Anne's childhood not only prepared her for her involvement in the movement during the 1960's, but also kept her inspired and motivated. Anne Moody sees a lot of ups and downs, which causes her to have depressing set backs from time to time. As told through out the book, describing her first twenty–four–years, her uncertainty is justified, yet overall the book does tell a story of success, found not only in Anne's personal life but also in the country. By understanding that in order for the movement to be a success and for there to be hope in the future some drastic changes must...show more content... Anne was immediately confused by their presence because they seemed to be just like her except for skin color. On one occasion all the children were playing together in the lobby of a movie theater. Anne was with some local white children playing, but when it was time to enter the movie lobby the white children went in one direction and Anne went in after her friends. Her disapproving mother quickly stopped Anne and they left the theater. Before this instance Anne had never considered the coincidence that all the white children watched the movie from the bottom terrace and all the African America children from the top terrace. While thinking about the difference Anne realized that the bottom terrace and side entrance was much more luxurious than the raggedy top terrace, where she and her mother usually sat (38–2). After this the difference in skin color became much more apparent to her in everyday life. Anne was motivated to find the answers as to why she was treated differently because of the color of her skin. Several years later Anne was fifteen and working for Mrs. Burke, a white lady that ran guild meetings out of her house. By this time the town had began to have misfortunate events happen to African Americans. It seemed as if they were being ran out of town or murdered one by one. A boy named Emmitt Till, Anne's age, had been murdered for supposedly disrespecting an older white woman. This took a large impact on Anne, and her mother put a fear in Get more content on HelpWriting.net

  • 17. Why Is It Important to Follow Directions? Essay I think it is important to follow directions because if people didn't follow directions we would have a lot of CHAOS in our world!!! The reason why we would have chaos is because kids would do drugs, have kids at REALLY young ages and there would probably be more homeless people. I think it is important to follow directions because for instance you could be walking across the street (say there's no speed limit, red lights/stop signs or anything like that) you would obviously get hit by a car and most likely end up in the hospital or be dead on the spot. That's why there are traffic rules that should be followed. Another reason following rules is important is if there were to be a man with a weapon at school. If a little kid didn't pay...show more content... If you don't listen to your parents, you can grounded, have candy, your cell phone, or computer time taken away or have no friends over. In school, if you don't listen to your teacher, you can be embarrassed in front of the class, have to do extra work (like this essay), lose class points, or even get kicked out of the class. You will also not get good grades because you wouldn't be paying attention to learn anything. You could also distract other kids around you that want to learn. Another important thing is organization so you don't lose things and keep important things in the places that they belong. I've learned that the hard way! I have spent a lot of time doing homework assignments, then misplaced them and was unable to turn them in. I also didn't get 100% on my science binder since I couldn't find some of my assignments and notes. I had a good talk with Mrs. Merolo and Fray about being organized. Mrs. Merolo helped me by giving me a folder where I could put my homework "to do" on one side and things to "turn in" on the other side. Fray taught me how to organize my assignments, quizzes, tests, bell work and notes in my binder, which has helped me to find my things when I need to study for quizzes and tests. I think I will be able to get better grades after this. Following rules also means following what it says on a sign. For example, stop signs, yield signs, traffic lights, mens and womens bathroom signs, pool signs (i.e. no Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 18. I prefer to work in an environment where the power distance index is low and every member can participate in the decision–making process. For my part, multi–directional communication is more effective than top–down communication. I also enjoy the working environment that encourages creativity and innovation. Additionally, I prefer to work in an organization advocating communication and commitment. Smooth communication increases productivity. Relationships should be as important as tasks in an organization. Besides, an adaptive organization that can react to various challenges and changes is better. I am most comfortable with individual risks, such as the delivery of negative feedback and proposing innovation. As an adoptive person, I am also comfortable with some emerging risks to a great degree, such as frequent job changes and virtual workplace. However, I am not a sociable person. Therefore, I am most uncomfortable with some relational risks, such as keeping good relationships with peers and supervisors. Form a collective culture, I always keep a distance with the supervisor and it is somewhat difficult for me to express dissent to the management. I think my traits help me become a capable task–oriented employee but may limit my possibility of being a leader because human skills are an important part of leadership. Therefore, I prefer to an organization with more communication in order to improve myself. 2. My personal risk philosophy In my opinion, individuals, Get more content on HelpWriting.net
