Survey Report
Water has various uses throughout industry, ranging from automobile manufacturing to food
service to pharmaceutical development, but one constant is that raw source water has to be
treated before being used for industrial purposes.
In order to better understand how industrial water filtration is used in industrial processes and
by which industries, we created a survey. The goal of the survey was to ask business owners
and employees in industrial sectors, to anonymously answer questions about industrial water
filtration systems. This report contains the results of our survey.
More Commercial than Industrial
Initially, we asked survey participants whether
they owned or worked for a company that
would be considered commercial or industrial.
Here’s what we found:
• The majority of those surveyed, 68%,
answered that their company is
considered commercial.
• Alternatively, only 32% of participants
said that they own or work for an
industrial company.
Most Companies Rely on Water
The next aspect we wanted to learn more about
was whether or not participants’ businesses rely
on water to run daily operations. The results we
received were:
• More than half of those surveyed, 57%,
answered that their company relies on
water for daily operations.
• The remaining participants, 43%, said
that their company does not rely on
water for daily operations.

2. Do Companies Have Industrial Water Filtration Systems in Place?
We wanted to ascertain how many businesses
currently have industrial water filtration
systems in place to treat their water. Here’s
what we found:
• Almost half of the participants, 44%, said
that their company does not currently
have an industrial water filtration
system.
• 34% of those surveyed answered that
their company does have an industrial
water filtration system.
• 22% said that this question was not
relevant to their business.
Which Industries Utilize Industrial Water Filtration Systems?
Another aspect we wished to understand
further was which sort of businesses are
utilizing industrial water filtration systems.
We asked participants to choose which
sector their business is most closely
related to amongst the following six
answer choices: automotive, biotech, food
& hospitality, hospitals & laboratories, oil
& gas production, and other. Here are the
results we received:
• Thirty percent of those surveyed
chose food & hospitality as the
sector their business is most closely
related to.
• Nine percent of participants
answered that their business falls
under the category of biotech.
• Seven percent of those surveyed chose automotive as their industry sector.
• Less popular than their counterparts, were hospitals & laboratories, with five percent.
• Four percent of participants chose oil and gas production as their industry sector.
• Forty-five percent of participants chose “other” as their answer to this question.

Most Businesses are Satisfied with their Water Quality
We asked employees and business owners whether or not they’re satisfied with the quality of
water that their industrial water filtration systems are providing them with.
Here is what we found:
• Slightly over half of the participants surveyed, 55%, answered that they are satisfied
with their current water quality.
• 18% of those surveyed reported that they are not satisfied with their water quality.
• Not surprisingly, 27% of participants said that this question was not applicable.
Summary
Most of the employees and business owners that we surveyed, rely on water to run their
businesses on a daily basis. Most are from the commercial sector and less than half have
industrial water filtration systems in place to treat their water. Lastly, less than half of those
surveyed are not satisfied with the current quality of their company’s water. They would very
likely benefit from a Culligan industrial water filtration system.
