1. High Country Conservation Advocates was formed in Crested Butte in 1977 as High Country
Citizens’ Alliance to keep a massive molybdenum mine from being developed on the 12,392’ Mt.
Emmons (known locally as “Red Lady”), which rises from the very edge of the town’s scenic
National Historic District. In the course of 37 years Red Lady has been the target of three mine
developers. HCCA successfully led the community’s fight to defeat two of the mining proposals,
and HCCA is now well into challenging the third and present mine owner’s attempt to develop a
molybdenum mine on Red Lady.
RED LADY YOGA Fridays 5:30PM
Taught by the 39th Red Lady, Crystal Pistol Edmunds, at Yoga for
the Peaceful. Donation to High Country Conservation Advocates
As RED is the color associated with the root chakra or root energy center,
Muladhara, we will focus on stabilizing and strengthening this chakra with
standing and strength-building asanas. Muladhara literally translates into ‘root
support.’ Red has the longest wavelength and the slowest vibration of all colors
in the physical spectrum-- it is this energy that grounds you in the world, that
helps you to get your work done on a physical level and to take care of your
basic needs. It governs your focus and ability to accomplish your goals. Your
Muladhara is the root of your health, your connection to prosperity and
your ability to hold a presence on earth
