• Demetrio is passionate about blockchain, innovation, change, startups,
technologies, paradigms, paradoxes, languages, cultures and diversity. He built
his experience starting from the information technology industry, converting to
finance/insurance in one of the most dynamic and complex Italian banking and
insurance groups. He is the classic "early adopter“ so it's likely that he's got
already that “new weird thing“ that you saw two days ago on a Chinese website.
Serial innovator, he's luckily left with that “sense of precariousness" typical of
those who have worked with immature technologies for a long time, so he tends
to test everything by himself before promoting a solution or a technology.
• Innovation manager & Head of Blockchain Program at Banca Mediolanum
• Lecturer on "Digital & Social Enterprise", "Digital Transformation" and
"Innovation management" at Venice’s Ca'Foscari university
• Contract professor at Milan’s Cattolica University.
• Member of the Advisory Board of IDC European Digital Summit and IDC
Blockchain Council.
• Member of the board of directors of AssoFintech (the Italian Fintech
Association) and the Italian Trusted Smart Contract Association.
• Member of the jury of several Awards, among others the Efma-Accenture
Innovation Awards.
• Co-author of "CIOs and the Digital Transformation – A new leadership role" Ed.
Springer.
Co-author of "Intelligenza Artificiale - Dalla sperimentazione al vantaggio
competitivo" Ed. Franco Angeli.
• Keynote speaker and chairman in major worldwide conferences and corporate
events.
Who am I?
3. October 31, 2008, a paper written by a person (or
group) named “Satoshi Nakamoto” released a white
paper called “Bitcoin: A Peer-to-Peer Electronic Cash
System”
On January 3, 2009, the Bitcoin network
came into existence.
Embedded in the transaction of this block
zero was the text: “The Times 03/Jan/2009
Chancellor on brink of second bailout for
banks.”
11 years ago… in a galaxy far, far away….
7. Without data, you’re just another guy with an opinion.
William Edwards Deming (October 14, 1900 – December 20, 1993) was an American engineer, statistician, professor, author,
lecturer, and management consultant
11. Essentially an automated
agent that lives on a DL
network.
A smart-contract is “activated”
every time someone sends a
transaction to it, at which
point it runs its code, perhaps
modifying its internal state or
even sending some
transactions, and then shuts
down.
DLT – Blockchain – Smart Contracts
34. • 5-10 years needed to this technology to be stable, mature, productive. We live an
analogy with Web end of ‘90
• Finance and Insurance «adore» PP-DLT (even if they call it blockchain) because it
promises an extraordinary increment in efficiency on typical banking processes and
enables new business models
• Finance and Insurance players share investments and experiences using a consortium
(coopetitive) governance model
• «private permissioned» is the preferred model, particularly the ones having
“segregation” capabilities
• The “Italian Banking Sector” is playing an incredible role of “early adopter” of PP-DLT,
creating infrastructures and experiences in order to establish an extended and intensive
use of PP-DLTs
