1. Email Subject Line: Exclusive story—SUNY Plattsburgh rekindles connections at bonfire
Dear Mr. Ovalle,
Members of my public relations class have a burning desire to increase attendance at
Homecoming. As a result, we've teamed up with the Office of Alumni Relations to create a new event --
a bonfire on campus. With it, we're hoping to spark the participation of both students and alumni.
I am inviting you to do a story on SUNY Plattsburgh’s bonfire event because it is something that
not only impacts the college, but the community. There are quite a few alumni from SUNY Plattsburgh
still living in the area. The stories you write target the audience that would be interested in this event.
I am offering this idea exclusively to you because I believe you will do a great job. The
experience you have had as the feature editor of the Press-Republican assures me that this story would
be successful under your supervision. With that being said I do need to hear back from you by Tuesday,
Oct. 13 on whether or not you would be interested in doing the story. You can contact me via email or
cell phone. My email is cgorm002@plattsburgh.edu and my cell phone number is (508)-831-8021. You
can also get in touch with my professor Michelle Ouellette via email at
michelle.ouellette@plattsburgh.edu or Amy Sheldon at ashel005@plattsburgh.edu. We are all available
for interviews on Tuesday’s and Thursday’s from 11 a.m. to 12:15 p.m.
I will call you in the next few days — probably Tuesday, Oct. 13— but can also set up another
time if you are interested in covering the story. If you have any questions please don’t hesitate to ask. I
thank you for your time and consideration.
Sincerely,
Connor Gorman
