2. MORE THAN 25 YEARS OF DOING
IT ALL & DOING IT RIGHT
Founded in 1995 in Atlanta, ARCO Design/Build, Inc. is a national design/build contractor
with a focus on the industrial market. Despite our tremendous growth over more than two
decades, the way we do business remains unchanged. In fact, it’s our philosophy of “we
win when our clients win” that has helped us become the industry leaders we are today.
Businesses enjoy working with people who have their best interest at heart and invest in
building strong, lasting relationships.
When you take that approach and offer complete, turnkey project delivery, success naturally
follows. One point of contact. One company. One streamlined process.

Owner manages TWO separate contacts:
• Owner becomes middleman, settling disputes between the designer
and the contractor
• Designer and contractor can easily blame one another for cost
overruns and other problems, while increasing risk to the owner
for cost exposure
Owner manages ONE contact with a single point of responsibility:
• Designer and contractor are on the same team, providing unified recommendations
• Changes are addressed by design-builder in order to mitigate risks for the Owner
• This method increases the speed to market/completion of the building by 33%

35. WE ARE DEDICATED TO A SAFE & INJURY
FREE WORK ENVIRONMENT AND STRIVE
TO MAINTAIN OUR EXCELLENT EMR RATING.
WE ARE DEDICATED NOT ONLY TO
MAKING THE CONSTRUCTION PROCESS
ENJOYABLE AND BENEFICIAL, BUT ALSO
ENSURING SAFE AND INJURY-FREE
WORKING ENVIRONMENTS FOR OUR
ASSOCIATES, SUBCONTRACTORS AND
CLIENTS. RISK MANAGEMENT AND THE
HEALTH AND SAFETY OF EACH ASSOCIATE
AND SUBCONTRACTOR ARE VITAL TO
OUR OPERATIONS.
SAFETY PROGRAM OBJECTIVES
• To eliminate accidents and injuries for
all project associates and subcontractor
associates; and to protect and preserve
property from damage during the
construction process.
• To maintain an excellent EMR rating.
• To maintain a proactive approach to
safety, which includes conducting regular
health and safety training and education
sessions for ARCO associates and
subcontractors.
SAFETY PROGRAM KEY ELEMENTS
• ARCO conducts weekly safety
“Tool Box” Talks for all ARCO and
subcontractor field personnel.
• Weekly safety inspections are
documented
by the jobsite superintendent using
an 80-point checklist.
• Pre-job meetings are held with key
subcontractors to plan upcoming work safety.
• All subcontractors are required to follow our
strict PPE requirements which include high visibility
apparel, hard hats, safety glasses, and 100% fall
protection.
• A DVD introduction to ARCO’s Safety Program
is required for all ARCO associates and subcontractors.
• Our safety handbook is distributed to all ARCO
and subcontractor personnel.
• All ARCO project managers and superintendents are
trained in first aid/CPR and OSHA Construction 10-
hour safety courses.
ARCO utilizes and works with our insurance broker and
carrier teams to ensure complete compliance and safe
practices at our job sites. By utilizing the professional
associates from these groups, we ensure all new
regulations are reviewed and implemented. Our training
stays refreshed and current, and our health and safety
policy is consistently reviewed and enhanced.
ARCO constructs an extensive site-specific safety plan
(SSSP) and emergency response plan for our projects.
The SSSP addresses key issues during construction
operations including fall protection, excavation cave-in
protection, emergency response procedures, the new
federal OSHA crane standard, silica protection, and
electrical safety.
OUR CURRENT EMR IS .65, WHICH IS
WELL BELOW THE INDUSTRY AVERAGE.
36. SAFETY PROTOCOLS PRIOR TO CONSTRUCTION
• While contacting subcontractors to bid the project, we confirm the validity of their safety program,
inquire about their dedicated safety professional and ask for EMR and current OSHA citations
• After contract award we emphasize ARCO Safety standards outlined in our contract with all subcontractors,
including expectations that go beyond OSHA standards including:
• PPE and 100% use of safety glasses
• 100% 6 foot fall protection rule
• Safety and general scope specifics are the first agenda items at every preconstruction meeting subcontractors
• Signed contract and proof of insurance is required before any scope of work begins
• Every subcontractor receives a site specific safety orientation to the job site to include a 21 minute safety video
SAFETY FIRST DURING CONSTRUCTION
• ARCO leads a weekly safety briefing (toolbox talk) for all workers on site
• Weekly 135 point site safety inspection (available via iPhone in our proprietary ARCO Safe app)
• Strict safety compliance policy for all subcontractors (three violations leads to mandatory project termination)
• 24/7, 365 Safety Department personal support from 17 highly trained and experienced
Safety Professionals nation wide
• Monthly visits from ARCO SAFE associates conducting job site inspections,
and assistance with future scope planning
