1. Preparation Outline Introduction: Attention Catcher: One thing that people first notice about me is my accent, it is obvious that I was born and raised in the south. Thesis Statement: My life has been rather ordinary, nothing completely traumatic or unusual has landed in the plot of my story; however, all of the experiences, lessons, and memories I have accumulated tie together the person I am today. Preview: I am very content with where I am today. My past has brought me to a good point in my life and I expect even better things from my future. Body: First Main Point: I live in Albany, KY., a town where everyone truly knows everyone. It is just big enough to hold two stoplights and one school system. I am very close to all of my family members, especially my sister. She is only two years older than me so we are best friends. Most people fear the thought of turning out like their mothers – not me. I hope to be just like her, she is the person I look up to the most. Second Main Point: I like to think of myself as an optimist, I try to find the silver lining in every cloud. I have always had a passion for cheerleading. It has molded me into an outgoing person. Except when it comes to public speaking, so this class is going to be a challenge for me. I am a Christian and I have always attended church regularly. Third Main Point: I love being a student at the University of Kentucky. I have matured significantly since I started school. I am undecided on my major but I am leaning towards teaching. I hope to either move back to my hometown or staying in Lexington to start my career. Conclusion: Thesis Statement: I am excited to continue traveling down my path and discovering what else life has in store for me. Main Point Summary: I hope to become successful with whatever I do.
