3. SpectacularSportFishing
Steamboat Bay and the surrounding waters off
Noyes Island feature some of the greatest fishing
spots in Alaska. Warm upwelling ocean currents
and craggy underwater topography from ancient
volcanos make an ideal habitat for millions of bait
fish that, in turn, attract a dazzling abundance of
marine wildlife and sport fish.
King Salmon (Chinook)
Southeast Alaska is one of the few places to catch
this largest of salmon species, prized for its
exhilarating fight and rich flavor.
Halibut
Buttery and light, wild halibut is abundant in these
waters and a favorite of guests.
Silver Salmon (coho)
In late summer, the local waters teem with
flavorful coho, lively acrobats on the line.
Lingcod
Reaching up to five feet in length, lingcod yields
fillets that are light, flaky delicacies.
In addition, more than 20 other varieties of sport
fish ensure that there’s always one waiting to bite.
